Position Summary:
Mohawk Global is seeking an experienced Import CHB Manager to join our team in either our Cleveland, OH or Chicago, IL offices. As the Import CHB Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the customs clearance process for our clients' imports, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and laws. The Import CHB Manager works closely with Mohawk’s clients, carriers, and coordinators to ensure timely and accurate clearance of goods.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- General Management of the import department’s entry writers
- Measuring daily performance of staff and address problems and issues
- Establish department goals and measure performance results against goals
- Coordinate and trouble shoot problems with Transportation team as well as Customs and/or other government agencies
- Audit CHB files to ensure compliance, billing/entry accuracy and timeliness
- Implement strategy to maximize revenue opportunities
- Implement and improve procedures to streamline workflow and eliminate inefficiencies
- Design and provide reports for internal and external purposes.
- Develop a “one team” attitude between Brokerage and Transportation teams
- Manage relationships with agents, suppliers and clients on a daily basis
- Coach Import Supervisors/department leads on daily operations
- Support and enforce the implementation of service levels
- Monitor error tracking, dwell time, demurrage, storage, exception module, events, etc.
- Trouble-shoot and help expedite shipments
Desired Skills/Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in the transportation and logistics industry working with US Customs and other Government agencies
- Customs Brokerage License is strongly preferred
- Thorough knowledge of US Customs rules and regulations
- Personnel management training and skills
