Position Overview:
Verra Mobility is looking to hire a Senior Counsel to join its Legal Department to support legal and compliance functions at Verra Mobility.
Essential Responsibilities:
The successful individual will be versatile, hands-on, and will gain broad experience in supporting a variety of legal and compliance matters at Verra Mobility, including but not limited to corporate governance, securities compliance, mergers and acquisitions, subsidiary management, corporate compliance, and surge support for business units under the Verra Mobility umbrella, as necessary. The individual will work under the supervision of another lawyer, and will also work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced global technology company. The responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Analyzing legal and business risk and providing legal advice and counseling to business partners;
- Supporting corporate initiatives;
- Collaborating with and advising corporate services colleagues on legal and compliance matters;
- Managing outside counsel, as required;
- Drafting, negotiating, and advising on policies, contracts, settlements, and other legal documents;
- Assessing risks and opportunities, and ability to generate and execute practical, actionable, and strategic plans to mitigate risk and maintain compliance;
- Developing and providing training on legal and compliance matters;
- Assisting with tracking team budgeting; and
- Assisting with various department operations initiatives and representing the legal and compliance function in corporate initiatives, as required.
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and in good standing with a state bar association.
- At least 4 years of relevant experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex legal issues in a simple, understandable manner with colleagues of varying legal knowledge across the Company.
- Adaptable, versatile, and able to thrive in time-sensitive situations and fast-paced environments.
- Commitment to the highest ethical and professional standards.
- Strong presentation and negotiation skills and solid business instinct and judgment.
- Desire to learn and commitment to continuous improvement.
- Demonstrated attention to detail.
- Strong collaborative skills, able to build partnerships and alliances internally within the department and with external partners at all levels of the Company.
- Effective time management and organizational skills and the ability to pursue multiple projects with competing deadlines.
- Desire to develop business insight and pragmatism, with the ability to understand the Company's business and its needs to anticipate risks and prioritize them appropriately.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with securities, corporate governance and M&A matters at a law firm and/or a public company.
- Experience with cyber- and data security matters.
- Local candidates (Phoenix metro area).
