As the Chief of Staff reporting directly to the CMO, you will play an integral role in ensuring the successful execution of Carta's marketing strategy. You will work closely with the CMO to identify and find solutions to marketing obstacles, drive operational efficiency, foster effective communication, and provide strategic support.
Your expertise will contribute to the growth and success of Carta's marketing function.
Responsibilities:
- Act as a conduit for the marketing leadership team and other company leaders for the CMO in prioritizing work, deliverables and approvals needed
- Own CMO internal communications in partnership with the CMO and marketing leadership team, including all-company and functional communications
- Conduct research, prepare reports, and deliver presentations to support data-driven decision-making within the marketing function
- Serve as a key resource and thought partner to the CMO to help define and drive key marketing and operational initiatives by identifying areas for improvement, implementing best practices, and optimizing processes
- Act as a liaison between the C-level executives and stakeholders to facilitate clear and timely communication
- Build relationships with CoS peers across the Carta executive team.
- Prepare and coordinate materials for executive meetings, leadership offsites, strategic engagements, and weekly organizational meetings
- Develop presentations for CMO speaking engagements
- Lead special projects and initiatives by overseeing project plans, resource coordination, and progress tracking
- Ensure the organization is exceeding our targets and on track for key initiatives, and own our headcount and budget execution
- Work closely with marketing leadership to optimize best practices, standardized reporting/tracking of outreach, and provide additional support to front line managers
- Act as a thought partner to our CMO

The Chief of Staff will serve as the right-hand, acting as a strategic partner in shaping and executing our marketing strategy. By aligning our objectives, initiatives, and resources, the Deputy will improve our ability to make informed decisions, adapt to market dynamics, and drive growth.
About You
- At least 5 years of experience recommended, ideally as a Chief of Staff and/or in communications roles in Marketing
- Ability to understand complex marketing dynamics and approaches
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to act in the CMO’s stead at meetings when needed internally, with vendors and other types of external stakeholders
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide strategic recommendations
- Experience in budget development and goal setting
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise good judgment, and thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in project management tools, collaboration software, and Google Suite
- An understanding of how sub-functions of marketing come together for impact
- A level of character that builds trust and exemplifies working collaboratively
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, management, or a related field. MBA or equivalent experience preferred
Salary
Carta’s compensation package includes a market competitive salary, equity for all full time roles, exceptional benefits, and, for applicable roles, commissions plans. Our minimum cash compensation (salary + commission if applicable) range for this role is:
- $151,000 - $178,000 in San Francisco, CA
