Reusable systems are the key to seamlessly connecting Earth and space. A key ingredient to making the construction of such reusable systems feasible and efficient is a set of high-quality and well-prepared safety programs and standards that keep our employees safe each day. As the EHS Specialist, you are the first face of EHS support. You are shop floor-based and customer obsessed. You identify, manage, and execute proactive safety projects, EHS requests, and corrective actions. You will also work to develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety programs that align with regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and the operating system of Stoke. Additionally, the EHS Specialist will provide ongoing safety training and education for employees, fostering a culture of safety and environmental responsibility throughout the Kent manufacturing facilities. Collaboration and communication are key in this role. You will work directly with the manufacturing and engineering teams to guide and facilitate continuous improvement activities that increase safety without impacting quality or efficiency. You will also work to integrate safe practices into daily operations and promote a proactive approach to daily risk management. This role requires excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and critical thinking, allowing you to seamlessly integrate with our teams as you will be the key point of contact for all safety-related matters. The successful candidate will be highly organized, able to prioritize and manage multiple projects at once, and be committed to driving a positive safety culture.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to develop, implement, and maintain safety programs and procedures
- Think creatively about how to optimize safety systems to benefit the individual employee
- Work directly with manufacturing and engineering teams to develop best safety practices
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses and develop corrective actions
- Provide EHS training and education to employees
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of EHS activities
- Function as state/local regulatory compliance liaison, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations
- Manage environmental waste contracts and identify cost/offering improvements
- Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety standards, promoting a safe and secure working environment
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in manufacturing environments, preferably aerospace
- Associate’s degree or equivalent industry certifications
- Strong history of successful project planning, execution, & completion
- Understanding of state and federal safety and environmental regulations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Able to lift up to 40 lbs. unassisted
- Able to stand for extended periods
- Able to stoop, bend, crawl, and being able to maneuver in tight space
- Valid WA driver’s license

- Engineering or Occupational Health and Safety degree
- Experience in a startup or fast paced environment

Compensation
Target Hourly Wage:
- Level 1: $27 - $37
- Level 2: $35 - $45
- Level 3: $43 - $53
