Role Description:
The Accounting Specialist will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with established accounting principles and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Processing accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
- Investigating and resolving exceptions and holds.
- Reconciling credit card transactions and expense reports.
- Collaborating with accounting and operating departments to resolve AR and AP issues.
- Processing invoice corrections.
- Working with vendor payment platforms.
- Responding to internal/external vendor and customer inquiries.
- Creating journal entries for expenses and allocation of expenses.
- Contributing to continuous process improvement by providing recommendations for improvement.
- Assisting with month-end and year-end close processes as requested.
- Creating and maintaining ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested.
Accountabilities:
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of Tucker Company’s goals and exemplify the Company’s core values.
- Deliver accurate and timely auditing and processing of carrier documentation to ensure customer invoicing goals are met.
- Maintain excellent working relationships with carriers and ensure timely and accurate payment to carriers.
- Demonstrate ability to adapt to process improvements to support growth objectives.
- Collaborate effectively and professionally with team members and other departments to meet and/or exceed Accounting Department goals and deadlines.
- Contribute to continual process improvement by demonstrating insight into processes and providing suggestions for improved procedures.
- Support Accounting Manager by delivering accurate and timely processing of Accounts Payables to maintain Tucker Company’s standards and ensure deadlines are met.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field
- 2-3 years of relevant accounting experience
- Proficient in ERP and other software platforms
- Proficient utilization of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word)
- Intermediate Excel skills
- Working knowledge and understanding of GAAP principles
- Exceptional analytical abilities and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
Preferred Skills:
- Aptitude to learn related software; McLeod (Transportation Management System), SAP Concur, TriumphPAY
- Team-focused, strong collaborative skills and a willingness to learn
- Desire to develop knowledge and skills related to accounting
