Position Overview
Fractyl Health has an opening for a Manufacturing Engineer Co-op who will contribute to projects related to the manufacturing of current and next generation medical device products. The position is in a small, cross-functional team of capable and experienced engineers who are working to optimize and scale the product manufacturing operations here at Fractyl Health. The Manufacturing Co-op will contribute to both catheter and console product groups, helping sustain the current generation of products, while also helping the R&D team develop the next generation of products.
The Manufacturing Co-op will also work with R&D and Quality on various projects and initiatives; meeting performance, quality, and cost goals; while optimizing time to market for company products.
Primary Responsibilities
- The Manufacturing Co-op will support the manufacturing team in the following activities:
- Clean room processes (Cleaning, bonding, general assembly)
- Fixture design and fabrication
- Equipment and process qualifications
- Component and Assembly drawing specification generation and evaluation/testing
- Validation and testing protocol generation, subsequent execution, and report writing
- Manufacturing data acquisition and analysis including but not limited to scrap analysis, lean process implementation, process mapping, and component procurement.
- Daily engineering support to both catheter and console teams and supply chain as needed.
Position Qualifications
Education requirements, certifications, etc
- Undergraduate degree enrolled in Mechanical, Plastics, Industrial, or Biomedical Engineering.
Experience requirements
- No full time experience is required; however, co-op and internship experience in an engineering field, preferably medical devices, is highly desirable.
Specific skills
- Proficiency with SolidWorks highly desirable. CAD experience essential.
- Demonstrable knowledge of commonly used catheter manufacturing processes.
- Hands on problem analysis and solving skills
- Knowledge of basic statistics and data analysis
