Job Description


As a Sr. Compliance Specialist, you will be at the forefront of ensuring that our operations align with the regulatory landscape set forth by VARA (Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority). Your role will encompass the development, implementation, and maintenance of comprehensive compliance frameworks tailored to meet the specific requirements of VARA. You will lead initiatives to enhance our Compliance Program and conduct regular audits to ensure adherence to regulatory standards. Your strategic insights and proactive approach will be essential in identifying and mitigating compliance risks, thereby reinforcing our commitment to operating with the highest levels of integrity and transparency in the cryptocurrency ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities:


Regulatory Compliance:

  • Stay informed about regulatory developments, guidelines, and requirements issued by VARA (Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority), and other relevant authorities in the UAE.
  • Interpret and communicate regulatory requirements to relevant stakeholders within the organization, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Maintain the firm’s compliance monitoring programs, policies, and procedures to ensure adherence to regulatory obligations.
  • Conduct regular assessments, testing and analysis of key performance and risk indicators to monitor compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies, including those mandated by VARA.
  • Compliance Training and Awareness:
  • Conduct regular training sessions and workshops to educate employees on compliance policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, with a specific focus on regulations issued by VARA and other relevant regulatory authorities.
  • Foster a culture of compliance and integrity throughout the organization by promoting awareness and understanding of regulatory obligations set forth by VARA, and other relevant regulatory authorities.

Risk Management:


  • Identify compliance risks and vulnerabilities within the organization, particularly in relation to regulations issued by VARA, and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Implement robust risk assessment frameworks to evaluate and manage compliance risks effectively, ensuring alignment with guidelines issued by VARA.
  • Collaborate closely with other departments to address compliance-related issues and implement risk mitigation measures in line with regulations issued by VARA.

Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business Administration, Finance, or related field. Advanced degree or professional certification in compliance (e.g., ICA, CISI, CAMS, CFE, CRCM) is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in compliance, regulatory affairs within the financial services industry. Prior experience working with FSRA, DFSA, or central bank regulated entities is preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements related to cryptocurrency exchanges.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and apply complex regulatory requirements to operational processes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate compliance concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing compliance programs and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
