Internships @ Wealthsimple
At Wealthsimple, we offer 4 to 8-month internships that are open to co-op and non-co-op students, and recent grads. During your remote-first internship, you will be able to contribute to projects that are changing the landscape of financial services for Canadians. You will be on a team that supports your growth and provides mentorship while also connecting to the broader Wealthsimple community! Eligibility✔ Currently enrolled as a student at a Canadian post-secondary institution or technical bootcamp ✔ New graduates - Within 6 months of your graduation date✔ Available to work full-time hours ✔ Residing in CanadaReporting to the Manager, Internal Controls, the successful candidate will build and shape internal controls that will be used by Wealthsimple to ensure safeguarding of assets, accurate reporting and internal efficiency.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Support testing and evaluation of internal processes, risks and internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR)
- Participate in audit planning and coordination efforts
- Learn to identify and assess risks, controls, and deficiencies
- Assist in the preparation of process narratives and flowcharts
- Assist in preparing internal controls recommendations, improvement opportunities and remediation plans for deficiencies
- Learn about the fintech industry and asset management and how to analyze and interpret financial data and trends.
We're looking for someone who:
- Is currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Auditing, Finance or related field
- Has basic understanding of auditing principles and concepts (e.g., GAAS, financial reporting)
- Has ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
- Is passionate about technology, specifically fintech
- Combines energy, enthusiasm, and intellectual curiosity, with a demonstrated interest in accounting, finance, and analytics
- Excellent attention to detail, combined with strong communication and collaboration skills.
