Every team member has the opportunity to leave a direct and lasting impact as we strive to become the leading company in better textiles.To continue our growth, we are seeking a Manager of Controls to lead and contribute directly to the development, implementation, and optimization of control systems across our manufacturing operations. The Controls Automation Engineer Manager will play a hands-on role in managing all control system engineering activities at SRTX.

You will not only oversee the design, installation, and maintenance of control systems, but also directly contribute to the implementation of these systems. This position requires both leadership skills and technical expertise, as you will work alongside your team to ensure seamless integration of automation solutions into the company’s manufacturing processes. Reporting to the Vice President of Automation, the Manager of Controls will lead by example, providing technical direction while remaining actively involved in project execution and troubleshooting.Experience with ABB control systems is highly preferred, as these are integral to SRTX's current and future automation projects.Responsibilities:

Hands-on Leadership & Team Contribution:


  • Lead, mentor, and work alongside a team of controls engineers to ensure successful delivery of automation projects.
  • Actively participate in the design, programming, and troubleshooting of control systems, contributing to the team's technical output.
  • Be a technical contributor, providing guidance and hands-on support in developing and implementing control solutions, with a focus on ABB systems.

Control System Design & Implementation:


  • Take a hands-on approach in designing and programming control systems for automation projects, including PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems, with preference for ABB controls.
  • Ensure control systems are integrated seamlessly into the production environment, collaborating with the automation and engineering teams to troubleshoot and refine processes.
  • Actively contribute to the implementation of new control technologies, helping to drive innovation in textile manufacturing.

System Optimization & Process Improvement:


  • Personally engage in optimizing control systems to enhance performance, reduce downtime, and improve product quality.
  • Use your hands-on expertise to lead efforts in improving existing processes, introducing new control systems, and making mechanical and electrical improvements.
  • Work closely with the team to identify areas for improvement and apply control solutions that streamline operations, with a focus on ABB technologies.

Troubleshooting & Maintenance:


  • Be actively involved in troubleshooting and repairing control systems, ensuring quick and effective solutions to minimize downtime.
  • Oversee the maintenance of control systems and play a key role in implementing preventative maintenance strategies.
  • Ensure that your team is equipped and trained to manage system issues, while also stepping in as needed to resolve complex technical problems.

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication:


  • Collaborate with the VP of Automation and other senior leaders, aligning control systems with overall business objectives.
  • Engage with cross-functional teams such as production, maintenance, and quality assurance, ensuring that control systems support efficient and safe operations.
  • Participate in discussions with external vendors, providing technical insights to secure best-in-class control technologies for SRTX, with an emphasis on ABB systems.

Documentation & Compliance:


  • Ensure the development and maintenance of detailed technical documentation, including wiring diagrams, system configurations, and operational procedures.
  • Maintain strict adherence to industry safety standards, regulatory requirements, and internal company policies related to control systems.

Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • 7-10 years of experience in control system engineering, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Proven experience in hands-on designing, programming, and implementing control systems, including PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems.
  • Strong expertise in control system integration and troubleshooting for automated manufacturing environments, preferably with experience in ABB control systems.
  • Hands-on experience with electrical and mechanical systems, including motors, actuators, and sensors.
  • Familiarity with process optimization, lean manufacturing, and predictive maintenance strategies.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage projects and actively contribute technically to achieve team goals.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional team environment, with a focus on results and continuous improvement.
