As the Benefits Analyst, you will deliver exceptional and prompt services to assist and support employees with benefits enrollment and inquiries. Responsibilities will include verifying insurance billing accuracy, maintaining accurate employee databases and files, and ensuring full compliance with mandatory benefit notices, all while possessing a comprehensive understanding of employee benefits regulations. In addition to benefits-related responsibilities, this role also includes supporting compensation-related tasks.
Role and Responsibilities
- Facilitate various employee benefits programs, including group health, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, retirement plans (e.g., 401(k)), health savings accounts (HSAs), employee assistance program (EAP), and wellness programs.
- Makes positive employee experience a priority addressing employees' ongoing and open enrollment benefits inquiries and direct complex issues to the appropriate parties for resolution.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations governing employee benefits, such as ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, and COBRA.
- Coordinate’s training/webinar sessions to educate employees about benefits, policies, and enrollment updates and changes.
- Responsible for maintaining accurate employee benefits data and records within benefits administration system (PlanSource) ensuring that any modifications to benefits are accurately updated in the payroll system (UKG), and the proper payroll deductions are executed accordingly.
- Maintains employee benefit records and ensuring accurate processing of benefits-related documents, including overseeing COBRA and QMCSO compliance.
- Monitors monthly premium billing for all group insurance policies through PlanSource, converts data to monthly calculations, and forwards it to the accounting department. Additionally, assists in maintaining and managing statistical data pertaining to premiums, claims, and costs associated with employee benefits.
- Administers all types (Short/Long Term Disability, FLMA, Personal, Military, etc.) employee leaves, managing the leave application process, verifying eligibility, coordinating with relevant parties, and ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable to local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
- Provides support in the design, development, implementation, and continuous management of various benefit programs, including aiding in the collection of statistics and data during the renewal process of health, life, and retirement plans.
- Helps prepare required reports and documentation related to compensation and benefits for internal and external stakeholders.
- Provides support to compensation-related inquiries assisting in salary surveys and market research to gather data on industry compensation trends and practices.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- High school diploma or GED and a minimum of three (3) years of experience in employee benefits administration with self-funded medical plans
- SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP and CEBS professional designations preferred.
- Knowledge of employee benefits and applicable laws.
- Experience with QMCSOs and COBRA Administration
- Knowledge and understanding of employee benefits and applicable laws, and compliance requirements, such as ACA, ERISA, or HIPAA
- Proficiency with HRIS and benefits administration software, UKG and PlanSource, or similar software
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Intermediate Excel skills)
