As a key member of our Maintenance team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our equipment and facilities. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will handle troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and repairs. You will also collaborate with contractors; help specify new equipment and work towards department goals.

Essential Functions:


  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on equipment, machinery, and systems 
  • Develop preventive maintenance plans as needed 
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues 
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and service calls 
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections 
  • Assist in the installation of new equipment and systems 
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and protocols 
  • Collaborate with other team members to complete larger projects and repairs 
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment 
  • Participate in training and development programs as needed 
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and work with teams to execute 
  • Achieve metrics on job scorecard for personal and department goals 
  • Follow manager’s directions and demonstrate dependability with good attendance 
  • Adhere to all company safety rules, procedures, and policies 

Competencies:


  • Strong mechanical aptitude 
  • Proven experience as a maintenance technician or similar role 
  • Solid knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and general maintenance practices 
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and blueprints 
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team 
  • Demonstrates ability to prioritize tasks to meet business needs 
  • Self-motivated with good time management skills 
  • Detail-oriented with a drive for accuracy 
  • Maintains quality and efficiency standards 
  • Consistently aligns with FMI’s Core Values 

Required Education and Experience:


  • 5+ years in a manufacturing environment actively setting up and repairing equipment, building mechanicals, pumps, etc. 
  • 2-year technical degree or equivalent training and experience 

Preferred Education and Experience:


  • Demonstrated troubleshooting and root cause analysis experience 
  • Experience leading cost-saving projects 
  • Experience using software to look up and document information 
  • Experience with building maintenance repairs 
  • Familiarity with working with vendors and contractors 
  • Expertise in mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical principles 
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical diagrams 
  • Experience with maintenance shop machinery and equipment
