About the team


As a global team, we span across Australia, China, USA, and Singapore, revolutionizing applied data science, data engineering and platform solutions to support Airwallex's rapid growth. You will collaborate with a diverse range of cross-functional partners, including Product, Engineering, Marketing, Sales, Finance, and more, to tackle complex data problems and shape the future of fintech. 

What you’ll do


We're seeking a passionate and experienced Data Science Director to lead our Growth Data Science team. This team plays a critical role in driving data-driven decision-making and developing innovative solutions to accelerate our company's growth trajectory. This role would be the key strategic partner with the head of growth and collaborate closely with cross-functional partners in Product, Engineering and Marketing to identify opportunities, optimize strategies, and unlock growth potential at scale using data science and analytics.

This role is based in London or Singapore.

Responsibilities:



  • Define the team's vision, mission and priorities in alignment with the head of growth as a newly setup team

  • Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing team of data scientists, fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment where everyone can thrive.

  • Oversee the development and deployment of data-driven products and solutions that enhance our growth capabilities such as experimentation platform

  • Guide your team in applying a variety of data science techniques—including statistical modeling, machine learning, and experimentation—to solve a wide range of growth-related challenges, such as customer acquisition, engagement, and retention.

  • Partner with stakeholders across the organization to develop and implement data-driven strategies that drive measurable growth.

  • Clearly and persuasively communicate data insights and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences, ensuring your findings influence stakeholders at all levels.

Who you are



  • 5+ years of experience managing and mentoring data science teams, with a demonstrable track record of fostering growth and development.

  • A deep understanding of growth principles and a history of applying data science to drive growth initiatives in areas such as customer acquisition, engagement, and retention.

  • Strong foundation in statistical analysis, machine learning, and data modeling, with experience in relevant programming languages (e.g., Python, R, SQL).

  • Experience in A/B testing and experimentation.

  • Proven ability to translate business objectives into data science initiatives and align team priorities with overall growth strategies.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to build strong relationships and influence stakeholders across different functions.
