WEAVE’s vision is When Everyone Acts, Violence Ends. Position Summary:The Director of Equity and Inclusion is a key leadership position reporting to the Chief People Officer, with a dotted line to the Chief Executive Officer, This Director is responsible for driving the strategic and equity-minded agenda for WEAVE.

In collaboration with multiple stakeholders, this Director will liaise with and influence leaders across the organization, serving as an expert advocate who can formulate and oversee a responsive multi-year strategy to create the most inclusive experience for our employees and support them in meeting the needs of our diverse communities. This could include advising on recruitment efforts, contributing to internal and external communications, supporting learning teams to build relevant content to develop our employees, and improve our ability to support the diverse communities within the Sacramento area. Key Responsibilities:The Director of Equity and Inclusion is a member of the Senior Leadership Team.

Senior Leadership Team members share responsibility for establishing organization-wide strategic priorities, success indicators, and objectives and guiding implementation through the development and execution of programs and practices which serve the mission of the organization and reflect the vision and values of WEAVE. As a Senior Leader, the Director of Equity and Inclusion will work with others to actualize organization-wide strategic priorities and objectives, and interdepartmental projects. This includes fostering team awareness of public image and issues that impact the financial, organizational, and professional stability of the agency, promoting a positive team spirit and sense of belonging for staff with healthy, productive, and respectful working relationships, and presenting a model of responsive, inclusive, client-centered, and trauma-informed service to all stakeholders. Other responsibilities include:

  • Assess current state and develop and advance an informed diversity, inclusion, and equity strategy for the business, building a framework that aligns with our business goals. Work closely with key stakeholders throughout the organization to support the application of a DEI lens to every aspect of the employee and client experience.

  • Develop a series of benchmarks or key performance indicators (KPIs) for WEAVE’s DEIB efforts so we can measure the impact of diversity and inclusion on our Strategic Objectives. 
  • Ensure our performance management and progression routes are inclusive and accessible to all. 
  • Engage employees and listen to their suggestions about how to make our culture more inclusive, ensuring that all employees have a voice.
  • Become the key subject matter expert in equity and inclusion issues, supporting the company internally and representing it externally as a thought leader.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work, human resource management, organizational development or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Demonstrated understanding of how different and/or intersecting identities, structural barriers and current affairs impact DEIB issues in the workplace, and/or subject matter expertise such as employment law. 
  • Knowledge of and experience using evidence-based approaches or tools to support DEIB efforts.
  • Adept at interpreting diversity-related data and legislation, and able to show how D&I function contributes to achieving benchmarks or targets. 
  • Knowledge of organizational psychology, plus an understanding of what might push this behavioral and culture change beyond processes. 
  • Prior experience in successful project management, particularly long-term projects with multiple goals.

  • Satisfactory results from DOJ background check.

The work environment is primarily a busy office setting in a two-story building with stairs and an elevator. Local travel (driving) will be required to conduct meetings and other activities at various area locations. Employees may need to move around and between floors, occasionally lift or move items weighing up to 25 lbs., or reach items above their head, below their waist, or stored in/on drawers and shelves.  Employees may also need to remain in one position (i.e. sitting or standing) for an extended period while completing work tasks. Must be able to efficiently operate a keyboard and mouse or adaptive equivalent, write reports, take notes; utilize desk tools such as phones or calculators, and utilize larger office equipment such as printers and copy machines.  Communicate clearly and concisely to others.  Apply above average reasoning and attention to detail as required in the accomplishment of job duties.
