CPower is based in Baltimore, MD., and is owned by LS Power, a development, investment and operating company focused on the power and energy infrastructure sector.We are looking for a Director, Northeast Sales who will manage and direct a sales force to achieve sales through multiple channels, cultivating and maintaining relationships with the end-use commercial/institutional/industrial facility personnel, energy brokers and consultants, providers of energy efficiency, automation, and distributed energy solutions.This is a highly visible and impactful role that works closely with all members of the CPower Sales Ops & Field Leadership organizations. The Director Northeast Sales’ primary goal is to build the strategy and grow the industry market opportunity.

Reporting directly to the RVP of Northeast Sales, you will have responsibility for designing and recommending sales programs and setting short- and long-term sales strategies. You will also evaluate and implement appropriate new sales techniques to increase the department’s sales volume. In order to succeed in this role you will have to be exceptionally personable and have the mindset of a Demand Response entrepreneur – a person with experience growing a business as well as someone who thrives on seeking ways to monetize existing activities, expand revenue streams and forge new models that embody our client’s core vision.Experience and understanding of the electric markets in NYISO & ISONE as well as the various Demand Response programs implemented by regional utilities preferred.

This is a remote position for candidates located in New York or the New England region. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Develop strategic plans with tactical execution to grow the business from existing customers and market share from the competition. 
  • Execute sales plans and programs, both short and long term, to ensure growing profitability and the expansion of company services.
  • Develop proactive strategies that include identifying and sourcing new customers by developing, strengthening and maintaining networks and independently identifying and developing relevant resources for sales and business development.
  • Identify opportunities through multiple channels, cultivating and maintaining relationships with commercial/institutional/industrial facility personnel, energy brokers and consultants, providers of energy efficiency, automation and distributed energy solutions.
  • Establish relationships with Energy Supply Brokers, Energy Advisory firms and Engineering Procurement and Construction companies.
  • Develop and maintain a sales pipeline and always meeting and/or exceeding sales quota objectives. 
  • Confirm & align CPower programs and tools value proposition.
  • Enable/ manages national/strategic partner relationships which directly align to customer expansion initiatives.
  • In collaboration with corporate strategy team, identify Distributed Energy Resource (DER) opportunities to develop and incorporate into industry segment strategy. 
  • Engage support and participation of the national and regional team sales planning and review meetings, and contribution to industry segment business opportunity.  
  • Recommend and review impactful customer deal structure/proposals/contract terms to strengthen industry segment expansion and ensure alignment with regional capacity and gross margin objectives.
  • Educate and collaborate with the sales team members to identify the optimum program/solution to fit unique business conditions of the industry segment.
  • Lead multi-department team calls and meetings designed to surface and address issues and opportunities.  
  • Identify needs for specific task group or project effort to resolve a problem and solicit outside department support as necessary. 
  • Review progress against goals with senior leadership consistently and maintains a “no surprises” approach.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements


  • Bachelor’s Degree: MBA preferred.
  • 8-15 years’ experience in sales organization management experience in a business to business environment.  
  • 10 years’ experience in Demand Response and Energy Industries.
  • Proven sales executive experience, exceeding targets.
  • Previously built a high-performing sales team and experience leading teams.
  • A proven track record of managing revenue pipelines and delivering against revenue goals.
  • Strategic Selling experience is a must.
  • Strong C Suite Experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication (internally and externally).
  • Possess strong listening skills.
  • Strong presentation development and delivery skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and CRM system.
  • Customer focused.  Strong sense of urgency regarding addressing customer related issues.
  • Demonstrated partnering and relationships with key customers and industry partners.
  • Strong knowledge of all programs and products and understanding of energy market structure.
  • Proven strategic leadership skills managing a cross-functional team.
  • Superior strategic, financial and relationship building skills.
  • Ability to work effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Able to manage multiple and complex initiatives and objectives.
