Requirements
SolAmerica Energy is excited to welcome an entry-level GIS Technician to our team! You'll be helping us with geospatial analysis to support our land acquisition projects across the United States. We’re looking for someone who has strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, as well as great communication skills in both writing and speaking. While this is a remote position, we do ask that you come to our Atlanta office for a little bit of onboarding and training first. We look forward to hearing from you.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
- Gather, validate, and analyze utility distribution data to ensure it’s accurate and relevant, helping us make well-informed decisions.
- Collect and work with geographic data from various sources, such as satellite imagery, topographic maps, and existing utility networks, to provide thorough spatial analysis.
- Identify and assess potential sites for solar development by using advanced suitability analysis techniques, considering factors like land use, environmental impact, and access to existing infrastructure.
- Keep our databases up-to-date, reflecting our prospects, areas of interest, and utility connections, so that all information is accessible for the team.
- Work closely with team members to clarify specific data needs, outline project requirements, and discuss desired results, ensuring everyone is on the same page about our goals.
- Collaborate to enhance database design, improve prospecting processes, and streamline workflows, all aimed at increasing our efficiency and productivity.
- Prepare detailed documents for landowner outreach campaigns, making sure all communications are clear, professional, and designed to foster positive engagement and partnership opportunities.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, GIS, or related field
- GIS Certification from an accredited institution is a plus
Skills and Qualifications
- While we don't require previous work experience, having proficiency in ArcGIS Pro 2.x is essential
- It would be fantastic if you're also familiar with ArcGIS Online, QGIS, and MS Office
- We’re looking for someone who can easily understand and thoughtfully follow both written and spoken instructions.
- A resourceful, self-motivated, and detail-oriented attitude is key
