Job Summary
The Director of Product Marketing will be responsible for developing and executing strategies that effectively position our products in the market, ensuring they meet customer needs and stand out in the competitive B2B SaaS landscape. This role will focus on product positioning, content strategy, sales and customer service enablement, customer insights, and optimizing the customer journey. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in digital and product marketing, along with strong leadership and collaboration skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Leadership
- Lead and mentor a team of demand generation professionals and work with them to optimize and expand lead generation efforts in partnership with sales and marketing.
- Foster a culture of experimentation, innovation, and continuous improvement within the team.
- Product Positioning & Messaging:
- Develop and refine product positioning and messaging that clearly articulates the unique value propositions of our products.
- Ensure that messaging is consistent across all channels and resonates with our target audience, addressing their key pain points and needs.
- Collaborate with product management to align positioning with product features and roadmap.
- Sales & Customer Service Enablement:
- Partner with sales and customer service teams to create and deliver effective enablement tools, such as pitch decks, product demos, FAQs, and training materials.
- Ensure that sales and customer service teams are equipped with the knowledge and resources they need to effectively communicate product value and address customer inquiries.
- Monitor the effectiveness of enablement materials and make improvements based on feedback and performance metrics.
- Customer Insights / Voice of Customer for Product:
- Act as the voice of the customer within the organization, gathering and analyzing customer insights to inform product development and marketing strategies.
- Conduct customer interviews, surveys, and focus groups to understand customer needs, preferences, and pain points.
- Use customer feedback to refine messaging, positioning, and product features, ensuring that our products consistently meet or exceed customer expectations.
- Customer Journey:
- Map and optimize the customer journey, identifying key touchpoints and opportunities to enhance the customer experience.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve customer engagement and retention at each stage of the journey, from awareness to advocacy.
- Collaborate with customer success and product teams to ensure a seamless and positive customer experience across all interactions with the brand.
Key Skills, Knowledge and Qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience in product marketing, with a strong focus on B2B SaaS.
- 5+ years experience leading a high-performing team.
- Proven expertise in product positioning, content strategy, and sales enablement.
- Deep understanding of the digital marketing industry, martech, and its role in driving small business success.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to translate customer insights into actionable strategies.
- Exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to lead and inspire cross-functional teams.
- Excellent collaboration skills, with a proven ability to work effectively with sales, product, customer service, and marketing teams.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and persuasively to diverse stakeholders.
Physical/Mental Requirements for the Job:
- Prolonged periods of sedentary movement.
- May be requested to work overtime and weekends if deemed necessary.
- Must be able to lift at least 20 pounds.
- Certain management positions might be required to occasional travel.
