BASIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Anticipate, recognize, evaluate, monitor, prevent and /or mitigate health and environmental effects from work place hazards to employees and the environment
  • Supervise the Environmental System Department to ensure all facets of their job responsibilities and duties are being performed.
  • Assist with notification to environmental incident and regulatory compliance reporting.
  • Assist with internal/external SHES and Regulatory Compliance Audits.
  • Ensure Waste Treatment plant operates within standard operating limits
  • Monitor all plant activities for possible procedural changes that would increase, decrease, or eliminate solid waste and/or waste waters.
  • Monitor the integrity of potable water, wastewater, solid waste and utility water systems throughout the facility
  • Monitor plant perimeter and water bodies on a daily basis to ascertain plant integrity.
  • Monitor all utility systems on a daily basis and compare the results to normal and expected usage. Investigate and make adjustments, as required.
  • Issue work orders and follow up, for repairs to any part of the above systems.  Expedite any purchasing or labor matters to ensure that repairs are completed timely.
  • Work with billing and accounting personnel to make certain that utilities are billed completely and accurately. 
  • Support operational budget planning and forecasting for responsible Environmental Systems cost centers.
  • Communicate and justify monthly budget variances for responsible cost centers.
  • Oversee all environmental contract labs on analytical status reports, analytical scheduling, and QC/QA requirements preventive maintenance program.
  • SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS


  • A minimum of a BS degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience in one of the environmental media
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience in water, solid waste or waste water in Chemical Industry.
  • Obtain and maintain a Class C potable and waste water license
  • Possess good communication and people skills.
  • Basic knowledge of waste water treatment processes.
  • Handling and disposal of solid waste (non-hazardous and hazardous).
  • Basic utility knowledge measuring and conservation.
  • Ability to maintain a potable water system.

    ITC was founded on February 24, 1972, with its purpose to construct, operate, maintain, and grow Mitsui & Company (U.S.A.) Inc. terminal assets. The Terminal broke ground after taking title to 11 acres on December 1, 1971 located on the inlet of Tucker Bayou next to Rohm and Haas. Simultaneously, with this purchase, ITC concluded a long-term lease with Union Equity Cooperative Exchange for an existing dock with deepwater that was contiguous to the 11 acres. In 1974, a dock which the facility was leasing from Union Equity became available for sale. Included in this purchase was an existing warehouse built over the dock that was used to store bagged rice for export. Mitsui purchased a 50% interest in the dock, storage warehouse, and deepwater berth which increased the size of the facility by an additional 18 acres. Within a year, another opportunity was presented when Rollins Environmental Services offered to sell their interest in a dock and 135 acres of land. This property was south of Tidal Road and was not contiguous to the existing 18 acres. ITC successfully acquired the 135 acres from Rollins, but eventually resold 80 of these acres back to Rollins. By 1976, with dock ownership and the newly acquired acreage, ITC constructed a key installation for Exxon ChemicalCompany.
