What You’ll Do
The Senior Manager is responsible for overseeing the procurement, maintenance, repair and support of all company equipment & vehicles (for all REMPREX locations) to optimize performance and utilization and ensure the safety, efficiency and cost-effective use of the REMPREX fleet and customer assets.
Responsibilities:
Procurement
- Manage a comprehensive purchasing program to ensure that required parts are available to meet maintenance & repair needs.
- Maintain parts using proper inventory management practices and processes to decrease stocking levels company-wide. Develop and manage min / max inventory levels across network
- Evaluate suppliers to achieve cost-effective agreements and consolidate our vendor network
- Supervise and coordinate with vendors and procurement team, leading negotiations for fleet acquisitions.
Maintenance & Repair
- Responsible for managing the maintenance and repair of all company equipment and vehicles to maximize availability.
- Evaluate suppliers to achieve cost-effective agreements and consolidate our vendor network
- Maintain a department-wide parts and inventory list, managing inventory to decrease stocking levels
- Assist with trend analysis to shape a preventative maintenance program to help ensure fleet reliability.
- Assist with the enhancement of maintenance auditing programs.
Administrative
- Manage budgets in areas of responsibility, tracking expenditures and identifying opportunities for cost optimization.
- Properly document invoicing and other chargeable services.
- Implement and document cost saving initiatives.
- Maintains detailed daily, weekly, and monthly records of equipment company wide.
- Prepares a variety of administrative and technical reports and correspondence.
- Other duties as assigned.
Management/Leadership
- Plans, prioritizes, assigns, supervises and reviews the work of direct reports.
- Participates in the hiring process for direct reports, provides or coordinates training, works with direct reports to correct deficiencies and implements disciplinary procedures as required.
- Maintain a positive, cooperative and effective working relationship with contractors, suppliers, customers and employees at all levels, across all departments.
- Ensure smooth operations, productive communications, and effective understanding during all interpersonal contacts.
- Provide current and accurate information to all requestors, courteously and in a timely manner.
Safety & Regulatory
- Create, promote, and maintain a culture of safety by setting a standard for clean work environments, eliminating all at-risk behavior and driving to a goal of zero accidents or injuries.
- Ensure compliance with company, railroad, FRA, OSHA, DOT – FMCSA and environmental regulations
What You’ll Need
- High School diploma or its equivalency
- 5+ years of relevant procurement experience including the development and maintenance of strong relationships with both suppliers and service vendors
- 2+ years of supervisory/management experience with the ability to train, support and motivate direct reports
- Valid driver’s license with a clean motor vehicle record (MVR)
- Knowledge of local, state and federal regulations that govern maintenance operations related to fleet vehicles and equipment for safety protocols and potential job hazards
- An analytical mindset; ability to create reports, define analytics, and create key performance indicators (KPIs) to create the opportunity for cost savings, profitability, and service excellence
- Ability to adapt to rapidly changing customer requests and requirements, seasonal variances in workload, extended or adjusted work hours, industry needs and requirements
- Organized with strong attention to detail and a keen eye for trends and areas of opportunity
- Effective problem solving, negotiation, and process improvement skills
- Strong verbal communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with team members and customers, fostering positive relationships with colleagues and stakeholders, fostering a supportive atmosphere that values diverse perspectives
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and a proven interest in technology and innovation, with a willingness to learn new tools and methodologies
- Uncompromising work ethic and the ability to take the initiative to continuously learn and grow
- Ability to work in an office environment that requires long periods of sitting and viewing computer screens
- Willingness and commitment to REMPREX and Client rules and regulations
- Ability to pass a criminal background check, drug screen and complete training and maintain credentials as required by Client
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 5+ years of experience managing fleet and/or heavy equipment maintenance and repair
- Previous experience as a diesel mechanic with career progression into management
- Previous Intermodal industry experience
Location
REMPREX is a 24/7/365 operation. This is a full-time role, and hours worked will encompass the hours needed to ensure staff and fleet needs meet both REMPREX and clients’ standards. Individuals in this role must be available on an on-call basis to address issues, repairs, or incidents as needed. This role will require the individual to travel as needed to support business operations. This role works both in an office and outdoors.
