The Cloud Data Architect will be responsible for designing, overseeing and optimizing the implementation of the company’s cloud-based data solutions. They will ensure that the company’s database infrastructure is scalable, efficient, and secure, laying the foundation for high-performance SaaS applications. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cloud infrastructure, database technologies, and data governance, with experience in architecting solutions that support large-scale, distributed systems.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Architect Database Solutions: Design and implement a scalable and resilient cloud database infrastructure using cloud platforms like AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
  • Data Flow Design: Develop and maintain robust data flow architectures, including ETL pipelines, data lakes, and data warehouses, to ensure data is accessible and performant.
  • Scalability and Performance: Ensure that database systems are designed to scale with business growth and handle increasing amounts of data efficiently.
  • High Availability: Design for redundancy, failover, and disaster recovery, ensuring high availability of all database systems.
  • Security & Compliance: Ensure all database designs follow industry best practices for security, data privacy, and compliance, particularly in cloud environments, work with Security team. 
  • Collaboration with Engineering: Work closely with software engineers and DevOps teams to ensure that the database architecture integrates seamlessly into the larger SaaS application ecosystem.
  • Documentation and Standards: Develop documentation, best practices, and standards for the company’s cloud-based data architecture.

Required Skills and Qualifications:


  • Experience with Cloud Platforms: Hands-on experience with cloud database services such as Amazon RDS, DynamoDB, Google Cloud Spanner, BigQuery, or Azure SQL.
  • Database Expertise: Deep understanding of both relational (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases. Experience with search engines and vector databases (Elastic, Open Search, Lucene, weaviate, etc) is a big plus. 
  • Architecture and Design: Experience in designing scalable, high-availability, and high-performance database systems in cloud environments.
  • Data Governance: Knowledge of data governance, security practices, and compliance (e.g., GDPR).
  • Collaboration Skills: Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, DevOps, security, and business teams.
