To enhance our team at our location in Hamburg, GE, Austin, US or Cebu, PH at the earliest opportunity, we are looking for a Senior Gameplay Engineer C++ (all genders). Are you fascinated about online games as a player as well as about their technical aspects in client/server interaction, data structures and game mechanics?Would you like to improve and develop an existing massive multiplayer game in cooperation with a team?We are looking for a C++ developer to join the team around one of our major client MMO games.You should have a good understanding of 3rd party code even though almost undocumented and you should not be afraid to take over the development of a partially 10-year-old code base.
We are looking for someone who can fix problems and create great new features.Your theoretical knowledge of technologies and design patterns is less important to us than your abilities to develop practical solutions. We would like to see some examples of your creations and to know more about your motivation to develop and improve a game.
About the role
- Take over responsibility for the Coding development of one of our major MMO games, both Client and Server
- Analyse issues/bugs reported by the QA team and implement fixes
- Implement improvements, new features and contents together with the team
- Analyse, document and refactor an existing codebase
- The ability to work closely together with Design, Art, Production and Product teams
- Create tools for the Development team in order to allow us to create new content more efficiently
Requirements
- Skilled C++ developer with the ability to write high quality code for Windows (Game Client) as well as Windows/Linux (Game Server)
- Not afraid to work on a partially 10-year-old undocumented code base of an existing game
- Familiar with tools like Visual Studio and Perforce
- Familiarity with Linux is a plus.
- Good understanding of different file formats such as JSON, XML and others, as well as non-utf 8 character encoding standards
- Very good knowledge of C++, but also knowledge of Python. Familiarity with Flash and DBs such as Cassandra and Scylla DB is a plus.
