Position Overview:
The Revenue Accountant is responsible for executing revenue accounting tasks, including processing test-taker registrations, managing revenue recognition, and ensuring the accuracy of sales revenue information. This role is critical in month-end closings, reconciliations, and utilizing ERP, e-commerce, and customer management systems. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead revenue accounting close procedures, ensuring compliance by establishing and following controls, preparing reconciliations, and making journal entries.
- Execute daily revenue accounting operations to ensure a smooth workflow.
- Collaborate closely with the customer success team to provide revenue guidance for contract structuring, ensuring compliance with ASC 606 and meeting financial objectives.
- Review customer contracts to ensure accurate recording and accounting.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to develop accounting processes that support existing operations and business expansion initiatives.
- Play a key role in the periodic audit process.
- Participate in internal continuous improvement initiatives within the team.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation within the revenue and accounting functions.
- Develop expertise in revenue accounting and ASC 606.
- Assist with or review tax and regulatory reporting and filings as needed.
- Provide financial and operational insights through data management and technological integrations.
- Identify key business drivers and relevant performance metrics.
- Prepare and present financial reports for regular leadership reviews.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- CPA certification is a plus.
Qualifications:
- 3-7+ years of experience in finance and accounting, with a strong focus on revenue accounting.
- CPA and Big 4 public accounting experience are a plus.
- Strong working knowledge of US GAAP, particularly ASC 606.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changes.
- Excellent attention to detail, time management, and analytical skills.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
- Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint.
- Experience with Sage 300 or similar integrated accounting software is a plus.
- Well-organized, proactive, and able to prioritize and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Strong command of written and spoken English, with the ability to communicate professionally and effectively with employees, clients, vendors, and other business contacts.
- Ability to maintain open, direct, positive, and objective communication with management.
