To support our growth strategy, we are looking to hire Senior Global Strategic Sourcing Manager - Mechanicals
This role will report to Carbon’s Director of Strategic Sourcing and is located in Redwood City, CA. The position requires at least 3 days a week in the Redwood City office.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies to manage cost, quality, delivery, and overall supply base performance in the Mechanical commodity areas.
- Identify and realize cost-saving and cost-reduction opportunities on existing spend.
- Help build a culture of long-term savings on procurement costs without compromising supply or quality
- Continually explore new technologies to optimize performance, efficiency, and value to stakeholders
- Drive the creation of efficient and scalable processes within Sourcing, and across Carbon in general.
- Proactively engage with Engineering, Product and Finance stakeholders to develop, refine and execute on the Carbon’s business and NPI/technology roadmap
- Challenge suppliers and the internal development team to identify and implement innovative designs, value-add specification changes, concepts and materials.
The Ideal Candidate has:
- 8+ years of strategic sourcing, procurement or vendor management experience, with a preference for experience in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Direct experience in procuring mechanical components, including CNC Machining, Castings, Extrusions, Sheet Metals/Stampings, and Coatings.
- The ability to build and nurture strong relationships both within and external to Carbon
- Strong negotiation, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Self-directed and able to work independently or within teams
- Superior interpersonal and presentation skills, with the ability to summarize complex issues and drive decisions by stakeholders or Senior Leadership.
- Ability to perform financial analysis (i.e., supplier capital projects, ROI, NPV, financial status, make vs. buy, etc.)
- The ability to successfully leverage technology and financial systems to extract and analyze data
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Supply Chain Management or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Must have the unrestricted right to work in the US without requiring sponsorship

The compensation bracket for this position is $132,800 - $199,200 per year. In order to maintain equitable internal pay practices, we aim to hire new employees near the midpoint of $166,000, taking into account your experience, work location, certifications, and the unique skills you bring to the role. If you are not based in our Redwood City office, the range above will be adjusted for the geographical differential associated with your actual work location.
