Opala is hiring an experienced
Data Architect to the team. In this remote role, you’ll assist in the design of Opala’s data platform. You should have a strong background working with relational and non-relational databases, data lake design, and data warehousing principles. You should also have experience with both relational modeling and dimensional modeling in a star/snowflake schema. In this role, you will lead the efforts to expand the design of our data hub.

Responsibilities:
- Manages the design and modelling of our data platform through a data-lake/data warehouse architecture.
- Works with engineers and other architects to design, plan and scope efforts related to product and project work.
- Delineates patterns and templates for dataflow and data modelling.
- Works with data analysts and developers to determine enhancements to our data hub that can be implemented efficiently and smoothly.
- Works with product team to assist with requirements planning and project scoping.
- Develops code, performs code reviews and works with team to ensure architecture is implemented as designed.
- Works with Data Analysts to maintain and expand our data dictionary.
- Offers innovative technical solutions to evolving customer requirements.
Competencies:
- 7+ years’ relevant experience in software development.
- 5+ years’ data architecture experience.
- 3+ years’ developing in a structured language (Python, Java, C# etc.)
- 3+ years experience with cloud computing/data platforms, Azure preferred
- Advanced knowledge of data structures in both relational and non-relational dbs.
- Knowledge of different data modeling methodologies.
- Deep familiarity with relational and non-relational databases, such as Databricks, Postgres, SQL Server, Dynamodb, Cassandra,
- Experience with Agile and Kanban methodologies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or other related technical discipline, or equivalent relevant work experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience architecting Databricks data solutions.
- 2+ years developing in Databricks/Spark/PySpark
- 2+ years’ experience and working knowledge of data in a healthcare data management environment
Benefits:
- The Seattle base salary range for this full-time position is $163-$188k. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
