Job Description of Mechanical Engineering


We are looking for a creative Mechanical Engineer to work on automation projects from Research & Development, Design, Manufacturing through to installation and final commissioning with qualification. He will be responsible for excellent automation mechanical design solutions for manufacturing environment.

Key responsibilities


  • Perform a full lifecycle product development - design, develop, proof of concept test prototypes to successful automation solutions deployment for our manufacturing plants
  • Designs mechanical and electromechanical products and systems by developing and testing specifications and methods.
  • Oversee the entire lifecycle of the machine design & development process from planning to testing and successful implementation in our plants and at various vendors selected for solution development.
  • Design and develop mechanical systems, keeping in mind the budget, timelines and other essential resources, that meet needs and requirements, with complete process of manufacturing concept/knowledge. Develop mechanical modelling of the automation solutions.
  • Analyse the mechanical design and refine it as per the requirement for existing and future requirements of automation.
  • Adhere to national and local compliance regulations and standards where plants are based while designing and determining solutions along with keeping in mind the ethos of the company.
  • Perform regular simulations, tests and experiments to determine how to better and improve automation solutions by designing new or amendments in design.
  • Develops manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for fabricating, building, assembling, and installing automation solutions.
  • Evaluates mechanical and electromechanical systems and products by designing and conducting research programs and applying principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, hydraulics, heat transfer, and materials.
  • Assures system and product quality by designing testing methods; testing finished-product and system capabilities; and confirming fabrication, assembly, and installation processes.
  • Troubleshoot problems and devise solutions to resolve them with other team members of SMEs.
  • Research and keep up with the dynamic technology and trends in the mechanical design spectrum
  • Produce modelling automation concepts and leverage latest technology for designing automation solutions. Test and evaluate theoretical designs
  • Conduct experiments methodically, analyse data and interpret results for conclusion of automation design.
  • Evaluate final product’s overall performance, reliability and safety
  • Prepare product reports and documentation such as automation solutions test plans like FAT and SAT, reliability plans with safety features considered, operational manuals including maintenance for production use.
  • Engage in lifelong learning and develop new theories or methods
  • Prepares automation product reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Maintains product and company reputation by complying with government regulations. IP filing for the unique solutions developed by the company.
  • Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer’s instructions and established procedures; and requesting special services.
  • Maintains system and product data base with clear requirements for revision control.
  • Completes projects by training and guiding technicians.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, participating in professional societies.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Mechanical Engineer requirements and qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (Master’s preferred) with prior experience working as a mechanical machine designer.
  • 5-7 years of working experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) for elector mechanical machine’s manufacturing, finite element analysis (FEA) with complete knowledge of tolerance analysis.
  • Hands-on experience with computer-aided engineering (CAM) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAE)
  • Familiarity with 2D or 3D engineering design and manufacturing tools (e.g., AutoCAD, ProE, SolidWorks or others)
  • Adequate knowledge of engineering analysis tools (ANSYS, ProMechanica or similar)
  • Mathematical computing and analysis tools knowledge (Matlab, Excel, LabView etc)
  • Solid understanding of core concepts including mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, materials science, Gantry/Robotics solution designs, control system designs etc.
  • Creativity and analytical skills, ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and understandable manner
  • Skills – Excellent design, technical writing, conceptual design with reliability and quality mindset, presenting technical information,
  • Experience working with tools such as UGNX, Creo and Teamcenter
  • Knowledge in dealing with engineering drawings and 3D modelling
