Summary The Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) plays a crucial role in the quality assurance process, bridging the gap between software development and testing.
The SDET is responsible for designing and implementing automated tests, developing testing frameworks, and working closely with the development team to ensure high-quality software releases. This role requires strong programming skills, a deep understanding of testing methodologies, and the ability to create innovative testing solutions.Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain test automation scripts and frameworks using tools like Selenium, Appium, and integrate with CI/CD.
- Ensure automated tests are reliable, scalable, and deliver thorough test coverage.
- Build and improve custom testing frameworks to streamline QA processes.
- Research emerging automation trends and best practices to keep our testing strategies current and effective.
- Execute exploratory, regression, and functional tests when needed.
- Validate fixes and track defects, ensuring comprehensive testing coverage.
- Use tools such as JMeter or LoadRunner to execute load and performance tests, analyze results, and recommend optimizations.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for test cases, scripts, results, and defect reports.
- Present reports on test progress, metrics, and quality trends to team stakeholders.
- Keep up with industry trends, tools, and techniques in test automation.
- Mentor junior QA engineers and SDETs to foster a quality-driven culture.
Requirements
- Required
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in test automation and framework development.
- Experience with automation tools such as Selenium, Appium, and programming languages like Java, Python, or JavaScript.
- Solid understanding of CI/CD and integration with testing tools.
- Preferred
- Knowledge of performance testing tools like JMeter or LoadRunner.
- Familiarity with Agile and collaborative team environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
