Machine Shop Technician

General Summary:


ES3 is currently recruiting a Machine Shop Technician to perform a variety of technical functions to assist project development to include, but not limited to: 

  • Fabrication
  • Component assembly 
  • Electroplating 
  • Test setup, test execution, test monitoring
  • and other duties as assigned. 

This position has responsibility to program, set up, operate, and maintain the waterjet machine. This includes loading and fixturing materials on the machine to ensure proper alignment for cuts, using software to program cutting paths and parameters, inspecting finished parts, breaking part edges, and performing regular inspection and maintenance on the machine. This position requires the candidate to be able to read detailed individual component and assembly-level drawings and have a good grasp of CAD modeling software used for waterjet operation.

This position will also require the candidate to aide in final product assembly and other fabrication and assembly duties as required. Applicant must be a good problem solver, be self-motivated, and work well in a team-oriented environmentThis position will be based out of our Clearfield, Utah Materials Research and Development Center (MRDC), a 120,000 square foot aerospace center with R&D, laboratory, prototyping, testing, and production capabilities within an ISA9001 and AS9100D certified environment.  Our MRDC has recently been renovated with LED lighting, heating, and central air conditioning with highly efficient air filtration systems to make your daily work surroundings pleasant, productive and comfortable. This facility along with our Engineering office boasts more than 75 engineers, scientists, logisticians, and technicians. 

Essential Knowledge and Skillsets to Perform Duties:


  • Read and understand technical drawings
  • Proficient in use of CAD modeling software
  • SolidWorks
  • AutoCad
  • General computer skills
  • General manufacturing experience
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Problem solving skills
  • Time Management
  • Willing to learn new skills

Education and Experience Required:


  • High Shool Diploma or GED
  • Applied Technology Training a plus
  • 0-10 years experience with CAD design and modeling

Other Requirements:


  • Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • As a condition of employment, candidates will be required to participate in a background investigation and be able to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance
