Overview of Position


The position is a hybrid role both engineering and support to the business. A successful candidate should have strong technical knowledge, and experience in key areas. They should value customer service, be able to manage their time efficiently and balance priorities. The role will require supporting staff with their issues as well as system design and implementation. There is a large amount of project pipeline to work through so there is a great opportunity to gain experience across the full spectrum of IT during this transformation stage of the business.

Role Responsibilities


  • System Administration: Oversee the administration of our IT systems, including servers, networks, storage solutions, and cloud infrastructure (IaaS & SaaS).
  • Network Engineering: Design, implement, and maintain our network infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and security.
  • Open Source Technologies: Leverage your expertise in open-source technologies (e.g., Linux, Docker, Kubernetes) to build and maintain robust, scalable systems.
  • Cloud Infrastructure: Manage and optimize our cloud-based environment, ensuring cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Security: Implement and maintain robust security measures to protect our IT infrastructure and user data.
  • End-User Support: Provide excellent technical support to our internal staff, troubleshooting and resolving their equipment and software issues.
  • Problem Solving: Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues, providing timely and effective solutions.
  • Automation: Automate routine tasks to improve efficiency and reduce downtime.
  • Project Management: Lead and manage IT projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
  • ITIL and Best Practices: Champion the implementation of ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) and other IT best practices.
  • Identity and Access Management: Manage and maintain IDP (Identity Provider) and MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication) for secure user access.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills


  • Tertiary qualifications (e.g., Bachelor's degree in IT or related field).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an IT support role.
  • Hands-on experience with networking equipment (switches, routers, firewalls).
  • Strong understanding of IT concepts, including networking, systems administration, security, cloud computing (IaaS & SaaS), and open-source technologies.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and problem-solving with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced team environment.
  • Demonstrated customer service focus, providing exceptional support to internal users.
  • Effective time management and prioritization skills
  • Desirable 
  • Experience managing blade arrays and network-attached storage.
  • Experience with Linux OS and CLI.
  • Experience with IaaS platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Enterprise project management and system implementation experience.
