JOB PURPOSE:
The Adventure Program Facilitator will coordinate assigned experiential and adventure modalities and evaluate programs at one or more sites including but not limited to inside the treatment facility and at offsite locations. The Adventure Program Facilitator uses their skills of counseling, psychology in conjunction with nature to facilitate both experiential and adventure therapies to help clients overcome problems, deal with mental health/substance use and improve their quality of life and overall wellbeing. This may include but is not limited to: Mala Beads and Labyrinth, Rock Wall Climbing, Stand Up Paddleboarding, Cold Water Exposure Therapy.
The following is a list of specific duties required by the Adventure Program Facilitator:- Facilitate both indoor and outdoor experiential and adventure-based therapies related to substance abuse and co-occurring disorders.- Possess strong public relations skills demonstrating an ability to relate effectively with people of diverse cultural and economic backgrounds.- Possess creative programming skills with the ability to assist in developing specialized components of treatment for diverse populations.- Ability to multitask.- Possess strong interpersonal skills & ability to relate to others in a positive manner.- Knowledge of planning, scheduling, administering and evaluating the effectiveness of the LIV Program modalities.- Communicate with treatment team and other staff as needed to support clinical goals.- Complete progress notes on the same day of service that provide detail on each clients’ participation and highlight medical necessity.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Assesses client’s strengths, needs, abilities and preferences; recommends client participation based on clinical appropriateness and/or GAD 7 initial score of moderate or severe.2. Complete initial screening and Adventure Program intake paperwork.3. Present information to members of clinical team, on client’s participation, progress and adjust the treatment plans, as needed.4. Attends daily morning treatment team meeting.5. Facilitate skill building/experiential counseling therapies and groups weekly, and promptly chart these therapies in the client’s records.6.
Work cooperatively with other community resources and referral sources to coordinate ongoing experiential services to clients, if deemed necessary. 7. Strive to increase professional growth and effectiveness through training and by keeping abreast of current trends and theories in relevant areas.8. Maintains appropriate state license/registration/certification for scope of practice.

1. ATTENDANCE AND PUNCTUALITY - Is prompt and on time for scheduled modalities/therapies both on and off site. Notifies the Adventure Program Manager prior to lateness or absence. 2. SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE – Adventure Program Manager completes all chart related documents and correspondence for assigned clients in a timely manner. 3. QUANTITY AND QUALITY OF WORK – Cares about the quality and accuracy of work being produced. 4. CONFIDENTIALITY - Know and follows confidentiality law and procedures at all times. 5.
CONDUCT – Conducts one’s self in a manner consistent with the agency’s code of ethics and code of conduct. Shows professionalism in the office and in an outside setting. 6. SAFETY – Conducts oneself in a safety-conscious manner, mindful of verbiage and non-verbal gestures that may or may not endanger the safety of all participants and staff.

Adventure Program Manager adapts practice to the range of treatment settings and modalities. · Judgment - the individual displays willingness to make decisions, exhibits sound and accurate judgment, and makes timely decisions.· Planning/organizing—the individual prioritizes and plans work tasks, uses time efficiently and develops realistic action plans.· Safety and security—the individual observes safety and security procedures and uses equipment and materials properly.Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Education / Experience
· Preferably holds a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Experiential Education, Psychology, or its equivalent from an accredited University.· Has a minimum of 2 years’ experience in the treatment of behavioral health / substance abuse disorder with specialization facilitating experiential and or adventure therapies.· Has a minimum of 5 years’ experience in program implementation, curriculum development and staff supervision.
Certificates and Licenses
· Must hold an active Lifeguard Certification, CPR/First Aid, and basic life support. · Preferably holds an Instructor Certification in rock climbing, stand up paddleboarding and other adventure therapies.· Preferably holds a Certification in Adventure Therapy.· Must have a valid driver’s license and clean record in the state performing work duties.
Knowledge
· An acute understanding of experiential and or adventure therapy modalities and other treatment modalities for alcoholism and drug addiction related problems.· A vast knowledge of regulations concerning alcoholism and drug addiction treatment.· Working knowledge of alcoholism and drug addiction and treatment procedures for such illness.· Working knowledge of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy/Mindfulness and or other Breathwork modalities.
