Process Engineer II (PE II) / IIISupervisorManager, Process Engineering (Manager/PE) or Regional Director, EngineeringMissionThe Process Engineer must take an integrated view of the project and ensure Anaergia’s best practices and standards are implemented in all project deliverables to ensure a consistent and coordinated technical approach for all projects. The PRO is also responsible for meeting deadlines and quality requirements effectively with resources allocated in an efficient manner.GoalsThe PE’s goals can be summarized as follows:- Understand the scope of the work, the contract requirements, and the limit of supply;- Coordinate all the Engineering activities to complete the design of the project;- Meet/improve the project schedule;- Meet/improve the project budget intended for all engineering activities;- Meet/improve the quality standards;- Identify and submit possible “cost-effective” improvements in the design;- Quickness and flexibility in responses to urgent questions from PMs, Plant Manager, Engineering Manager(s), and the sales department;- Engineering technical lead at project (or plant) level for internal and/or external resources.- Become a technical “expert” in one or more areas of Anaergia’s technical offering.Tasks, Authority, and LiabilityProcess Engineers II tasks: All tasks below for project Engineer II are accomplished with the direct supervision of a Process Engineer III or other technical lead on the project as defined. A Process Engineer II is expected to perform the tasks below with little guidance required and may function as a technical lead on a project under limited supervision from a Process Engineer III. - Basic & detailed Design Engineering activities for the assigned project(s) in Anaerobic Digestion Plants, Municipal Solid Waste, Biogas Treatment & Biogas Upgrading, etc., in accordance with the Company's established procedures.- Develop and review conceptual designs.- Develop and review Process Flow Diagrams (PFD) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).- Process engineering calculations, including heat and material balances.- Produce Basis of design process scope documents.- Participate in project review meetings with all stakeholders.- Perform Process equipment sizing calculations and develop specifications and data sheets using Anaergia standard details and templates for major project equipment.- Develop Equipment, instrument, valve, line and specialty items lists.- Interface with other internal engineering disciplines to ensure a coordinated design and complete engineering deliverables.- Interface with plant operations to perform biological commissioning, resolve technical issues, and monitor process information to optimize plant operations.- Perform lab tests and manage pilot projects- Plan the engineering activities for all assigned projects and monitor the activities' progress in compliance with the schedule defined on the general document list;- Agree with the PM (or Plant Manager) to define budget assigned for the Engineering activities throughout the entire life of the project;- Provide PEs (or the Plant CIP Manager) with the process specifications for acquiring the materials expected for each project in accordance with properly calculated design data.- Provide technical support as needed;- Provide technical review of equipment proposals and submittals;- Create Process Hazard Analysis for each project to identify hazards and their mitigation.
Make sure to comply with the local standards required for each specific project;- Organize regular meetings (weekly) to share and update the progress of the engineering activities for all jobs and point out any problems that emerged during the engineering development;PRO is authorized to:- Have T&L costs in compliance with the function’s budget set by the PM or Plant Manager.Safety and Quality related responsibilitiesThe Process Engineer is responsible for the rigorous application of the company rules and standards regarding the engineering activities, the accuracy of the information provided, and the compliance with the contract requirements and specifications of each project.
Compliance with safety is a priority for Anaergia.During the entire design activity, the Project Engineer shall assess all aspects related to health risks and safety through all phases of the project (design, construction, operation, maintenance, and dismantling) and take actions to eliminate, mitigate, and advise all involved figures about the remaining risks.Competencies / QualificationsEducation Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in an applicable Engineering discipline required. A Master’s Degree or other advanced degree is desired.Experience2 to 15 years as a Project Engineer in the Industrial Plant business.Travel RequirementsTravel up to 20% may be requiredTechnical/ Special competencesThe Project Engineer has the following technical skillsets:- Understanding of contract specification and identification of supply limits for the design activity of complex mechanical plants;- Knowledge of Visio, Word, SharePoint and PowerPoint;- Expert Knowledge of MS Excel;- Ability to use CAD software, specifically Anaergia P&ID drafting software and drawing management systems;- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize activities- Read architectural, mechanical, and electrical plans and have a solid understanding of basic electrical and mechanical control systems.- Understanding of Mechanical/Hydraulic design, Electrical Design and Control systems;- Knowledge about national and international regulations for the design of waste treatment, renewable energies and biogas plants;- Experience managing relationship with all parties involved in the project design and/or facility operation;- Demonstrated Master of Process Flow Diagrams (PFD) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).- Demonstrated knowledge of Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) processes and applications; - Fluent in English.Cross -functional competenciesTo execute the job with the “right sense of priority,” the Process Engineer shall understand how their activity affects other functions as well as other functions that can influence, either positively or negatively, the achievement of the PE goals.
