Senior Manager, QA Engineering

We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager, QA Engineering to lead and elevate the capabilities of our test engineering team. In this role, you will manage and develop a high-performing team of Software Developers in Test (SDTs), fostering a strong culture of quality across the organization. The ideal candidate will be a player-coach, and you’ll be hands-on with automation testing initially to gain a deep understanding of our product and tech stack. Over time, your focus will shift toward leadership and mentorship, helping guide and upskill SDTs globally across both our Canadian and Indian engineering hubs, while growing their technical expertise and careers.

What you will do:


  • Lead, mentor, and manage a global team of QA automation engineers, focusing on performance, career development, and technical competencies
  • Elevate QA engineering across teams, ensuring quality software and a delightful user experience through continuous, iterative testing practices
  • Foster a culture of quality by improving automation tooling, implementing processes and best practices, and introducing innovative approaches to the team across different phases of the SDLC
  • Skilled in test planning: Ensure robust test planning processes that align with business objectives and product specifications
  • Drive strategic decisions that balance product and functional needs: Navigate complex discussions and drive decisions aligned with business context, product, architecture, and infrastructure needs and strategies
  • Monitor the effectiveness of test automation and continuously drive improvements to increase test coverage, efficiency, and quality
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of test results and project progress
  • Ability to act as player-coach: Perform automation testing yourself during initial phases and on an as-needed basis to ensure project goals are met
  • Recruit and onboard new QA automation talent as the team expands
  • This role may require occasional travel to our Vena India office
  • Other Duties, as assigned

Does this sound like you?


  • 10+ years of experience in QA automation, with at least 3 years in a management role leading 6+ automation engineers
  • 5+ years of experience working on B2B SaaS products with large volumes of data and complex workflows
  • Proven experience leading a product quality improvement program, through elevating automation testing practices, tooling, and delivering high-quality solutions
  • Strong expertise in E2E automation tools such as Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, or similar
  • Experience leading QA in a matrix organization, and balancing product roadmap and functional roadmap diplomatically and according to business priorities
  • Experience standardizing testing processes and creating consistency across various teams
  • Skilled in test planning and execution of comprehensive test strategies
  • Solid understanding of SDLC, CI/CD, and test-driven development (TDD)
  • Strong programming skills in languages like Java, JavaScript, or similar
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
  • Hands-on testing experience: Comfortable with direct testing work when needed
  • Experience with mentoring global teams in distributed locations (Canada and India)
