The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of both front-end and back-end development, as well as strong system administration skills, particularly in securing and optimizing WordPress websites. You will play a crucial role in ensuring our website is secure, functional, and scalable, while delivering an excellent user experience. Your responsibilities:Website Development and Administration:

  • Manage all aspects of our WordPress website, including setup, configuration, updates, and maintenance. 
  • Develop and implement custom themes, plugins, and functionalities to meet business needs. 
  • Ensure compatibility of all site elements across multiple devices and browsers. 
  • Troubleshoot issues related to the WordPress platform, database, and hosting environment. 

System and Server Management:

  • Configure and manage web hosting environments (e.g., VPS, cloud hosting, or shared hosting). 

  • Perform regular backups, updates, and patch management to maintain security and integrity. 

  • Optimize website performance, including speed, caching, and load times, using tools like WP Rocket, W3 Total Cache, or Cloudflare. 

  • Manage databases (e.g., MySQL) and perform database optimization when necessary. 

Security and Compliance:

  • Implement and maintain robust security protocols to protect the website from malware, hacking attempts, and other cyber threats. 

  • Monitor and address vulnerabilities using tools such as Wordfence, Sucuri, or other security plugins. 

  • Ensure the website meets data privacy regulations, such as GDPR and PIPEDA (Canadian privacy laws). 

  • Conduct regular security audits and implement preventive measures like SSL certificates and firewalls. 

Front-End Maintenance and UI/UX Optimization:

  • Collaborate with marketing and design teams to ensure the site aligns with branding and corporate goals. 

  • Implement responsive design principles to ensure a seamless experience across all devices. 

  • Regularly update content and multimedia, optimizing for SEO and performance. Regularly update content and multimedia, assist with optimizing for SEO and performance. 

Technical Support and Documentation:

  • Provide ongoing support to internal stakeholders for content management and troubleshooting. 

  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including system architecture, configuration settings, and standard operating procedures. 

  • Train internal teams on best practices for WordPress usage and content updates. 

Your qualifications & requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Web Development (or a related field), or equivalent experience. 
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a WordPress/Website administrator or progressive experience.
  • Experience with web server environments (Apache, Nginx), Linux OS, and command-line interface (CLI) tools. 
  • Expertise in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP as well as proficiency with MySQL databases preferred.
  • Experience with cloud hosting services (AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure) is a plus. 
  • In-depth knowledge of WordPress, including theme and plugin development, troubleshooting, and security best practices. 
  • Experience in front-end development (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript) and familiarity with UX/UI design principles. 
  • Knowledge of WordPress optimization techniques (caching, CDN setup, etc.). 
  • Familiarity with security tools such as SSL/TLS, firewalls, malware scanning, and vulnerability assessment tools. 
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex website issues. 
  • Certifications in WordPress, Cloud, Linux, or security (e.g., Certified Ethical Hacker, Solutions Architect).
