The Junior Mission Manager will focus on the Company’s growing launch service offerings, ranging from small satellites to pressurized and un-pressurized microgravity payloads. The Junior Mission Manager will oversee the processing and launch campaign of customer payloads from contract signing to in-space operation, to include contract execution, performance to cost and schedule, as well as serve as the primary customer interfaceEssential DutiesMission Management

  • Collaboratively and effectively manages projects or missions, actively working with both internal and external team members and stakeholders to achieve success.
  • Builds and fosters excellent customer relationships and drives customer satisfaction on their missions/projects.
  • Responsible for the crisp execution and Scope, Schedule, and Budget performance on their missions/projects.
  • Responsible for consolidating and communicating customer payload data and requirements to various internal functions including project management, engineering, operations, safety, and quality.
  • Serves as primary interface with the customer from contract signing to in-space operation and payload return, as relevant to mission objectives.
  • Maintains ultimately accountable for work on their missions or projects meeting requirements.
  • Responsible for understanding the United States export control laws and regulations, and the spectrum coordination laws and regulations.
  • Conducts and presides over internal and external reviews, including but not limited to the reviews   of customer’s payload data, contract requirements and verification, documentation, and compliance data, as well as its launch vehicle partners or their subcontractors. 
  • Project Team Support

  • Provide customer support for payload fit-checks, hardware testing, and integration activities in the field as needed.
  • Supports internal engineering team as necessary to facilitateproject or mission success.
  • Supports business development & sales teams, including brokering of technical reviews, completing feasibility assessments, contributing to proposal efforts, drafting statements of work, assisting in contract formulation and milestone development, etc.
  • Ensures all documentation is of the required quality, revised and updated as required, and that all chance control and configuration management practices are followed.
  • Supports and assures connectivity of engineering teams among companies to assure seamless integration and satisfaction of requirements.

    CompetenciesEducation: 

    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in mechanical, electrical, aerospace, chemical engineering, physics, materials science, computer science / engineering, mathematics, or business required.

    Experience:

    • Required 
    • 0-1 years' professional experience in the aerospace industry required. 

    • Preferred
    • Experience working with government and commercial aerospace customers and a familiarity with launch vehicles and/or payload development strongly preferred. 
    • Experience working with CubeSats, Small Satellites, or any other platforms or payloads designed for operation in space (design, build, test, analysis, launch, operation, etc.) preferred. 
    • Experience or familiarity with biological or chemical processes, in basic laboratory principles and techniques, or the ability to quickly gain knowledge with biological or chemical processes preferred.
    • Experience with or ability to understand and/or conduct technical analysis products with structural, thermal, and orbital mechanics preferred.

    Physical Requirements

  • The work is sedentary, requiring low levels of physical activity. A candidate should be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
  • The workplace operates under core working hours as defined by company policy. However, work schedules may vary based on business needs.  If a schedule needs to be changed, managers will notify their employees.
  • The work requires close visual acuity to perform activities. A candidate should be able to do the following activities without issue: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes; operate motor vehicles or heavy equipment.
  • The work will require the employee to make repetitive motions and manipulate objects using their arms, hands, and fingers. The employee will be required to express and exchange ideas using spoken instructions accurately, loudly, and quickly. The employee will also need to discriminate sound at normal speaking levels without correction and can receive detailed information through oral communications.
