All candidates must apply directly through our job postings.Based at our global headquarters in Houston, TX, the Desktop Support Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring operational continuity across our office and production environments. This role requires an advanced understanding of desktop systems, network troubleshooting, and a proactive approach to supporting a high-performance IT infrastructure.

This position leads troubleshooting efforts, supports complex configurations, and serves as a technical resource for both office staff and production teams.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Advanced Technical Support & Troubleshooting:
  • Provides expert-level support for desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and specialized production equipment, resolving complex technical issues in hardware, software, and networking.
  • Manages and responds to escalated support tickets efficiently, documenting solutions and contributing to the knowledge base.
  • Production Line IT Management:
  • Supports production line technology, maintaining essential IT equipment and monitoring systems to minimize downtime and enhance productivity.
  • Collaborates with production teams to identify and resolve technology-related bottlenecks and ensure optimal configuration of IT assets.
  • System Configuration & Deployment:
  • Leads setup and configuration of software, operating systems, and hardware, ensuring all devices meet MetOx’s performance and security standards.
  • Coordinates onboarding setups, creating secure accounts, and managing permissions for new hires and role changes across production and office environments.
  • Asset & Maintenance Oversight:
  • Maintains a comprehensive inventory of IT hardware and software, managing upgrades and replacements to support dynamic technology needs.
  • Conducts regular maintenance on critical IT assets and develop a preventive maintenance schedule for production and office equipment.
  • IT Training & Compliance:
  • Develops and delivers training sessions on best practices in IT security, data management, and productivity tools to ensure user adherence to company policies.
  • Acts as an IT policy ambassador, assisting users with compliance and security measures to protect information and technology assets.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree information technology or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 3 years in IT support or desktop support.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Specialist (MCDST), ITIL Foundation.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or production environment highly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:


  • In-depth knowledge of Windows OS, Microsoft Office Suite, networking fundamentals.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure and Office 365.
  • Familiarity with production and manufacturing IT requirements, including specialized hardware or production line software configurations.
  • Knowledge of relational database systems and their required connectivity drivers.
  • Knowledge of firewall and TCP/IP networking concepts.
  • Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues quickly.
  • Skilled at interpreting error logs, analyzing system configurations, and identifying the root causes of complex technical issues.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a customer service focus, capable of explaining technical solutions in a clear and supportive manner.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across departments, ensuring user satisfaction and smooth IT operations.
  • Proficient in maintaining accurate records of support activities and managing inventory, with a detail-oriented approach to asset tracking and compliance.
  • Skilled in prioritizing tasks, managing time efficiently, and supporting IT projects in alignment with operational needs.
  • Solid understanding of IT security principles, compliance requirements, and the importance of data protection in a production environment.
  • Ability to apply IT policies consistently and educate users on best practices to ensure company-wide adherence to security standards.

Physical Demands:

This position requires sitting at a desk and viewing a computer screen for extended periods while working or performing other office tasks. Ability to move around the office, including occasional standing, walking, and bending to retrieve documents, attend meetings, or use office equipment. Some light lifting may be required, up to 20 lbs.
