Key Responsibilities:
- Design & Analysis
- Assist in designing and testing mechanical components and systems that align with product specifications and performance requirements.
- Conduct simulations and basic analyses to verify the design, durability, and feasibility of mechanical components.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to generate CAD models, technical drawings, and design specifications.
- Prototyping & Testing
- Support the development of prototypes for new products and participate in iterative design improvements.
- Conduct laboratory and field tests to evaluate materials and components under different conditions, documenting test results accurately.
- Assist in troubleshooting and problem-solving issues related to prototype and production assemblies.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Create and maintain detailed technical documentation for designs, test results, and procedural updates.
- Generate clear and concise reports to communicate findings, improvements, and insights to engineering and project management teams.
- Assist in maintaining engineering records to ensure all project documentation is complete and organized.
- Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, process engineers, and production teams, to support product development from concept through production.
- Attend project meetings and provide input and updates on engineering progress and challenges.
- Actively participate in safety and operational training sessions to ensure compliance with company standards and safety protocols.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior co-op or internship experience.
- Familiarity with finite element analysis (FEA) tools and simulation software.
- Experience with hands-on work in a lab or manufacturing environment.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Strong foundational knowledge in mechanical design, thermodynamics, and materials science.
- Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to analyze data and interpret technical information effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Physical Demands:
This position requires sitting at a desk and viewing a computer screen for extended periods while working or performing other office tasks. Ability to move around the office, including occasional standing, walking, and bending to retrieve documents, attend meetings, or use office equipment. Some light lifting may be required, up to 20 lbs.
