Director of Software Engineering (Asia)

Reporting to the VP of Engineering, the Director of Engineering will be responsible for leading a team of Software Engineers to ensure that new product development demonstrates innovation and solves business specifications.
We are looking for someone with deep technical hands-on experience in software development paired with excellent communication skills. The Director will be expected to co-ordinate efforts with development teams and subject matter experts within Veryon and our customers and partners as well as deliver technology solutions while adhering to our core values. The Director of Software Engineering will be a critical senior role at Veryon’s India office. They will need to support staff at the location providing mentoring and problem solving skills across all departments. This role will lead teams of Software Engineers (developers) in India and Sri Lanka.
What You’ll Accomplish - Your Performance Objectives
Objective #1
Within your first 30 days, gain a solid understanding of the current state of the team, the technology and the projects
Familiarize yourself with the Veryon products, being able to click through and demo the applications at a high level
Demonstrate a clear understanding of the existing SDLC process at Veryon
Gain an understanding and appreciation for all of the individuals influencing success of this role, including direct reports, peers and project stakeholders across India, Sri Lanka, UK and North America geographies
Build recommendations in terms of growing and supporting the workplace environment and culture at the India office
Objective #2
Within your first 90 days, demonstrate your ability to take in-depth understanding and create actionable plans of action.
Work with your and you peers’ teams to deliver your first feature to production.
Establish regular touchpoints with direct reports and within other business units.
Establish and monitor goals and growth plans for individual team members by various means such as 1:1s and metrics
Present a readout to senior leaders on a plan to evolve the Asia Development team with clearly defined milestones and regular progress reporting
Build relationships with all Chennai and Sri Lanka staff across all departments, exhibiting a leadership presence as a go to person for all senior leadership support in Asia
Evaluate usage of existing and potentially new technologies, ensuring that the development team is optimized with the appropriate tooling that makes a direct impact to efficiency and effectiveness
Objective #3
Within your first 6 months, establish yourself as a senior technology leader.
Ensure continued on-time delivery of features and bug fixes
Complete your first set of performance reviews for your team and provide recommendations for continuous improvement and career growth.
Maintain or improve high standard of employee engagement in the Veryon Asia development team
Implement at least two innovations and demonstrate value using both KPIs and qualitative measures
Clearly articulate the cost and time savings associated with advancements in Asia’s development practice such as the further adoption of AI tools in the development process
Create and maintain key KPIs which can be easily consumed across the organization
Build strong relationships with engineering senior leadership team and key stakeholders across the organization
