Responsibilities:
- Data Collection and Verification: Perform comprehensive research on companies, focusing on entity types, capital structure, software focus, and ownership details, ensuring alignment with Banyan’s acquisition criteria.
- Data Management and Accuracy: Execute comprehensive account and contact management processes, handling large data sets with meticulous attention to detail, delivering accurate and consistent outputs.
- Methodology and Tool Enhancement: Actively contribute to refining and evolving sourcing methodologies, tools, and best practices to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with the onshore team in Canada/US, aligning research initiatives with strategic company objectives. Provide accurate, timely support for ad hoc projects, including market mapping, list building, and other initiatives supporting corporate development and M&A.
- M&A Ecosystem Expertise: Build and maintain a strong, up-to-date knowledge base on the M&A ecosystem, including acquisition types, deal structures, and key relationships. Apply this expertise to document, monitor, and analyze acquisitions, establishing complex relational hierarchies across our operating regions.
- Pipeline Development: Actively source and qualify new accounts and contacts, ensuring a steady pipeline of high-quality leads for the business development team to pursue.
Qualifications for success:
- Data Research: Proven experience with advanced data research tools for identifying and qualifying high-caliber acquisition targets.
- Insight into B2B Software: Strong understanding of the B2B software sector, particularly VMS companies, with insights into market dynamics, competitive landscape, and business models.
- High Attention to Detail and Analytical Skills: Exceptional ability to analyze complex datasets to pinpoint product offerings, verticals, end-users, and service offerings, ensuring accuracy in all deliverables.
- Collaborative Communication: Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with global teams, adept in cross-cultural interaction and conveying complex findings with clarity.
- Strategic and Flexible Mindset: Able to align research activities with broader business goals, demonstrate flexibility amidst ambiguity, and adapt readily to shifting priorities and project scopes.
- Data-Driven Precision: Strong commitment to accuracy in data-driven decision-making, with a preference for experience in Salesforce Sales Cloud or similar platforms for data tracking and analysis.
- Creative Problem Solver: Proactive, resourceful problem-solver with a knack for innovative research solutions and the ability to identify new opportunities within complex scenarios.
Educational Foundation: Degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, Economics, Data Science, or related field, with a preference for candidates who bring a background or strong interest in technology.
