Job Summary
/Position ObjectiveThe Mechanic I is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of facility machinery. Key Responsibilities


  • Proficiency in basic principles of mechanical troubleshooting and repair (able to perform the task with no supervision)

  • Knowledge ofthe basic principles of (has had training, but has not proven proficiencyand sometimes requires supervision of task):


  • Inspection and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment

  • Mechanical Installation of facility machinery

  • Root cause analysis and counter measure

  • Product quality analysis

  • Preventative maintenance process of facility machinery

  • Operation monitoring of facility machinery 

  • Basic equipment fabrication

  • Fabrication of repair parts and solutions

  • Troubleshooting and repair of:


  • Optical Sortation

  • Crushers and Screeners

  • Compressed Air and Dryers

  • Organic Removal Systems


  • Metal Remove (Fe and NonFe)

  • Conveyance


  • Create and ensure environment of safety for self and others

  • Complete daily maintenance and repair logs

  • Maintain a clean work area

  • Maintain and secure work tools

  • Other duties as assigned

Education & Experience Requirements


  • High School Diploma/GED preferred

  • Ability to manage time and prioritize effectively

  • Team player, able to lead and contribute to a team effort 

  • Excellent communication and people skills

  • Analytical problem solving and troubleshooting skills

  • 1-3 years of maintenance experience preferred

  • Able to work safely and efficiently 

  • Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics preferred

  • Glass processing knowledge is a plus

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions


  • Must be able to perform above listed duties

  • Exposure to a dusty and noisy environment that can be very hot or cold

  • Required to perform mixture of light, moderate, and heavy physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of a productive technical nature.

  • Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. 50 % bend, stoop, twist, reach, and climb steps. Up to 75% walking or standing required.

  • Regularly required to handle tools, machinery equipment, welding equipment, and large and small mechanical parts. Regular fine hand manipulation and required to write and type on a computer keyboard. Manual dexterity required.

M-F, 5am to 3:30pm with occasional work on Saturdays. M-F, 5am to 3:30pm with occasional work on Saturdays.
