POSITION SUMMARY:
The Inventory Planning Director manages all aspects of Inventory management for an assigned brand from overseeing the product cycle of budgeting to buying & rebuying and from the book setting process from the media plan through forecasting and adjusting future budgets. The main responsibilities of the Inventory Director is to maintain inventory levels, adher to the OTB framework while protecting cash flow, monitor service kpi goals, liquidate the overstock, partner with Global Sourcing on expediting hot status shipments, direct fabric purchasing, trigger calendars and capacity planning, approve all purchase orders, purchase order amendments and air freight scr’s, manage the inventory teams and work closely with the Divisional Merchandise Manager(s) & Brand Manager to ensure the brand strategy is disseminated to the team and that inventory impacts are considered and anticipated.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for overseeing the inventory management of the brand and leading the team in all aspects of the buying cycle while maintaining the purchasing budget
- Responsible for maintaining inventory levels within the framework of the OTB and protecting cash flow.
- Manages and monitors all key performing indicators (BO, Cancellations, Overstocks) assuring alignment with goals, assuring maximization of opportunities, as well as minimizing risk.
- Reports to management backorder status and delivery updates to help forecast sales for weekly review
- Interfaces with Marketing, Finance and Global Sourcing to make sure all numbers are correct for forecasting and anticipating service needs.
- Schedules and executes all meetings: buy plans, bump buys, hot/cold, production meetings, etc.
- Supports inventory staff to ensure timely delivery of merchandise, reorders and cancellations.
- Responsible for approving purchase orders, amendments and air freight scr’s within the OTB framework to keep within our financial goals for cash flow and achieve EOM inventory plan.
- Ensures all deadlines are met by the team. Will use resources effectively and efficiently with targeted headcount.
- Provides, training, coaching and development to the inventory team for future growth.
- Review demand analysis reports to make sure Control Buyers are reacting to business trends. Set criteria for hot/cold meetings. Identify runners from new media.
- Work with e-commerce manager on re-ranking backorder items for the web based on Inventory availability .
- Review inventory positioning for all future promotional events so that we can best service the customer.
- Work directly with Brand leader to ensure that inventory impacts are considered and anticipated.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred in business, finance of any related fields
- 8+ years of related experience
- 5+ years of supervisor or mentoring experience
- Experience in Inventory Control, Forecasting Planning, Allocation or Buying
- Prior experience as mentor or supervisor is required
- Strong analytical skills, logic and reasoning
- Proficient with mathematics and financials
- Intermediate level on Excel
- Strong IT and systems knowledge
- Mentoring and training skills

- Ability to work under pressure
- Must be willing to take a stand on tough issues when required
