Role Overview
We are currently seeking a detail-oriented U.S. Mortgage Pre-Underwriter. In this role, you will ensure our mortgage applications meet and exceed industry standards by meticulously preparing loan files for underwriting approval. Key Responsibilities
- Investor Guidelines Mastery: Maintain a deep understanding of investor guidelines to ensure compliance across all loan files, focusing on Jumbo and non-QM loan products.
- Complex Financial Analysis: Perform detailed financial analyses to evaluate borrowers' income stability, reliability, and overall creditworthiness, involving varied income sources and complex financial documentation.
- Loan Documentation Review: Conduct thorough reviews of loan applications, appraisals, credit reports, and other required documents to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Verification Management: Manage the ordering and reviewing of essential verifications such as employment checks, credit supplements, and tax transcripts, aligning with findings from automated underwriting systems.
- Quality Control and Reporting: Generate detailed quality control reports that identify issues, document potential problems, and suggest corrective actions to improve the loan approval process.
- Collaborative Team Support: Serve as a key resource for the loan processing team, assisting with document preparation, discrepancy resolution, and ensuring readiness for submission.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Relevant experience specifically in mortgage underwriting, with a strong focus on Jumbo and non-QM loans.
- Exceptional knowledge of investor guidelines and a proven track record of managing compliant loans.
- Advanced proficiency in financial income analysis, capable of interpreting complex data and extracting meaningful insights.
- Proficiency with major Loan Origination Systems (LOS) and a strong understanding of current mortgage regulations.
- Excellent organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a systematic approach to problem-solving.
- Outstanding communication skills for effective internal collaboration and clear documentation.
