Senior Infrastructure Engineer

SMX is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to support USINDOPACOM J6 portfolio of programs. This position is onsite Camp H.M. Smith Marine Corps Base in Hawaii, Hickam AFB, SMX HQ and hybrid remote.

This position requires a DoD secret security clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI which requires US citizenship.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities


  • Independently manage and monitor tasks as directed from the J68 and designees
  • Provide technical experience to coordinate activities to ensure stakeholders are aligned to meet division goals
  • Provide mature products for dissemination at high level briefs
  • Provide expertise on various systems engineering services to include Active Directory (AD), VDI, Server implementation, configuration, and security requirements
  • Organize cross-functional meetings between relevant intra-agency personnel
  • Assist in the allocation of appropriate resources to ensure division strategies are completed within given time and budget
  • Assist with knowledge management of overall division projects and strategy to ensure cohesion of effort
  • Establish effective communication with internal and external stakeholders
  • Work in a team environment and provide daily status updates in a scrum
  • Participate in engineering discussions and provide SME level recommendations
  • Update and maintain production and quality metrics for division
  • Work independently without supervision
  • Up to 25% travel

Required Skills & Experience


  • Interim Secret with ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance
  • BS/BA in Technical discipline and/or IT Management/Engineering OR
  • Associate’s degree and additional experience in relevant field may be substituted for a BS/BA
  • Minimum of 10 years of operational IT customer support OR Active Directory, Windows Servers, VDI experience10
  • 10-15 years as a Systems Engineer and/or technical experience in Information Technology (IT)
  • Previous experience Microsoft Windows, Linux, Virtualization and Containers, security controls
  • Ability to complete tasks within required timeframes with no supervision
  • Expert at use of Microsoft Active Directory, Azure, SQL Server, 365, Visio, Kubernetes, VMware, Palo Alto, Ansible, Tenable, PowerShell, Python, and Red Hat Enterprise
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Customer focused
  • Capacity to learn new systems rapidly and adapt quickly to change
  • Experience with USINDOPACOM
  • Intra-agency or joint command experience
  • Experience as a Cloud/Systems/Security Engineer
  • IAT Level III/IAM Level II certification (CASP, CISSP)
