Position Summary:


Discovery is looking for a talented and passionate Discovery to join our dynamic sales team. As a Director Business Development - Biospecimens, you will play a pivotal role in consistently developing and closing new and repeat business from customer and prospect accounts in an assigned territory. A Day in the Life of a Director Business Development - Products at Discovery Life Sciences:


  • Develop, propose, and implement monthly, quarterly and annual territory plans to meet revenue goals and achieve quota attainment.  
  • Generate new business through a high level of customer and prospect contact including frequent direct customer visits and extensive networking. 
  • Actively manage a pipeline of 100 opportunities, keeping information up to date, and logging call notes from field activity  

Position Qualifications (Education, Skills, Experience):


  • BSc, MSc, or PhD in Immunology is preferred.  
  • Degrees in Hematology, Molecular Biology or an allied science is accepted with immunology-related experience.  
  • Eight (8)+ years of field-based sales experience in Life Sciences, CDMO, or Biotech. 
  • Proven track record of achieving 100% of quota. 
  • Tremendous ability to work with clients, actively listen to needs, and translate into opportunities. 
  • Motivation to communicate directly with potential clients via both e-mail and phone.  
  • Ability to build and nurture relationships with clients and potential clients.  
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cohesive team. 
  • Team-first attitude and passion to achieve Commercial Team and company-wide goals.  
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks. 
  • Excellent computer skills to include Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Google Docs.    
  • SalesForce.com experience is desirable but not required.  
  • Excellent self-awareness, enthusiasm, intrinsic motivation, and resourcefulness. 
  • Proven ability to work effectively both autonomously and collaboratively. 

Key Responsibilities:


  • Communicate clearly to executive stakeholders including operations, marketing, SMEs, and project management teams, to ensure that prospects are provided with well-orchestrated and timely information to ensure successful closure of opportunities. 
  • Work closely and collaboratively with assigned Project Manager towards attainment of territory goal and 100% customer success 
  • Develop and maintain deep product knowledge to sell consultatively and make recommendations to prospective clients on solutions that best meet their needs. 
  • Maintain the integrity of the data in the CRM with updated contact and account information 
  • Demonstrate strategic business awareness of the market to differentiate Discovery brand from the competition. 
  • Attend conferences, trade shows, and seminars as required.  
  • Provide training, lead, coach, and mentorship to other Sales team personnel. 
  • Work directly with sales leadership to help manage sales related procedures, quota development and comp plan development as needed. 
  • Respect the privacy of the personal information of patients, co-workers, and all individuals with whom the Company interacts.  
  • Ensure compliance with all laws and regulations applicable to the Company and its operations . 
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.  These may, on occasion, be unrelated to the position described here.  
  • Consistent and predictable attendance is an essential function of the position.

The exact base pay offered for this role will depend on various factors, including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, skills, and experience.

Location and work hours:


  • Remote - Must be located in The United Kingdom or Germany
  • Flexible work schedule
  • Up to 50% domestic and international travel required for mandatory site meetings and trainings
