SUMMARY
We’re looking for a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join our Engineering team. You will build and evolve Rasa’s core Conversational AI engine, leveraging LLMs. You’ll have opportunities to lead architecture decisions as well as algorithm implementations. You’ll be collaborating with engineers in your team and across the organization.Together with the team, you’ll build Rasa Pro, our Conversation AI infrastructure product, which enables Enterprise developers to build, deploy, and maintain complex AI assistants in a production environment.Full-time - 100% remote - Location: The UK, Germany, or Serbia
This is a remote position, but we cannot hire anybody outside of the UK, Germany, or Serbia for this position.
Rasa can assist with work authorization (visa sponsorship) for candidates located in Germany only.
ABOUT THIS ROLE
Software Development at Rasa is not only about writing code. Your team will need your support to come up with good architectural designs, and quality code, and break an ambitious vision down into milestones and issues. We’re not here to chase state-of-the-art on established benchmarks. To ship machine learning products that make a difference for our enterprise customers and our community, you’ll need to:
Develop new machine learning tools that help developers build great conversational software, and enable them to build things that they can’t currently.
Take responsibility for feature work beyond just implementation, considering the whole product experience.
Contribute to good architectural designs, and quality code, and help break an ambitious long-term vision down into milestones and issues.
Share and learn good software practices through code reviewing with your peers.
Think lean, prototype ideas quickly ask the right questions, and move forward projects with uncertainties within the context of the team.
Mentor junior developers and help them develop great software engineering skills.
Navigate our tech stack: Python, LiteLLM, LangChain, vLLM, HuggingFace, Unsloth, Milvus, TensorFlow, Transformers, Dask, Redis, Postgres, GitHub Actions, Kubernetes among other technologies and frameworks.

Requirements
Experience in designing and building complex machine learning systems for natural language processing applications
Experience teaching & communicating technical material
Advanced knowledge in Python or another programming language and experience with LLMs
Ability to think ahead and anticipate technological challenges
Comfortable with the mathematics behind machine learning

MEET YOUR TEAM
You will join the Engine squad; a team of 2 ML Engineers, 1 Backend Engineer, 1 QA engineer and 1 ML Tech Lead hailing from various places around the world, and currently working remotely from Germany, Serbia, and the UK. You’ll partner with a Product Manager and an Engineering Manager.This team is responsible for evolving the core machine learning capabilities of our platform including NLU, NLG, and dialogue management, with a focus on addressing our customers’ organizational and operational complexities.
The team primarily ships features in Rasa Pro and Rasa Open Source, with an impact on all our products.
