Since 2016, T-Rex Solutions (T-Rex) has been supporting large scale hybrid-cloud migrations and systems modernization, to include the successful deployment of the first-ever online U.S. Census in 2020. T-Rex is actively expanding its IT Modernization services within the Federal Civilian market, specifically supporting the Department of Education’s strategic priorities.
T-Rex is seeking a Cloud Architect to design, deploy, operate, and maintain resilient secure Cloud environments as the Department of Education looks to transition from an on-premise infrastructure to the cloud.
Responsibilities:
- Design Cloud-based system architectures that include Public and private Cloud technologies and services, software, hardware, and communications solutions to support the total requirements, as well as provide for present and future cross-functional requirements and interfaces.
- Ensure architectures are in compliance with open systems standards as they apply to the client’s environment.
- Evaluate compatibility of information system development efforts with agency architectures and recommends adjustments, as appropriate
- Evaluates problems of Cloud connectivity, Cloud platform architecture, workflow, organization, and planning and develops appropriate corrective action
Requirements:
- Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance
- Strong experience in one or more architecture domains (e.g. business architecture, solutions architecture, application architecture)
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures of cloud technology, including Software as Service (SaaS), Platform as Service (PaaS), or Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS).
- Experience working in the public cloud.
- Proven background working in cloud environments with experience and knowledge in 4 or more of the following areas:
- Agile methodologies including Scrum or Kanban
- Agile collaboration tools such as Atlassian Jira, Confluence
- CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab, Bitbucket, Artifactory)
- Containerization and container management with Kubernetes and Helm
- Security automation with tools such as Static Application Security Testing (SAST) and Dynamic Application Security Testing (DAST)
- Cyber tools - Aviatrix, Orca, Splunk, Amulous, STIG scanner
- Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation
- Git, branching strategies, GitFlow and/or GitHub Flow
- Cloud high availability and scalability best practices and architectures
- Ability to meet with customers to gather and understand business requirements
- Ability to quickly adapt to new situations and changing priorities
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Must be punctual, reliable, and accountable for themselves, with ability to follow through with tasks to completion
Desired Education & Experience:
- 10+ years of progressive experience engineering and architecting public cloud environments
- AWS Certified Solution Architect Associate or higher certification
- Experience working in an agile environment preferred
