If you like a fast-paced environment, a team structure that provides support, training, and development, then apply today!The role of the Concrete Finisher is to smooth and finish surfaces after material have been applied to various surfaces within the trenchless rehabilitation process. This role is also responsible for assisting the crew by performing several supportive tasks. These tasks include everything from preparing equipment and materials, to offering physical labor and excavation work. The duties and responsibilities are described below.Duties and Responsibilities:• Represent the company with professionalism and integrity. Assure customer expectations are met or exceeded in a manner that maximizes profitability without compromising safety or quality standards.• Work effectively with supervisors and all members of the crew to ensure successful inspections, cleanings, repairs and rehabilitation of sewer, drain and conduit pipes. • Check the forms that hold the concrete to see that they are properly constructed.• Set the forms that hold concrete to the desired pitch and depth and align them. • Spread, level, and smooth concrete, using rake, shovel, hand or power trowel, hand or power screed, and float.• Monitor how the wind, heat, or cold affect the curing of the concrete throughout the entire process. • Mix cement, sand, and water to produce concrete, grout, or slurry, using hoe, trowel, tamper, scraper, or concrete-mixing machine.• Cut out damaged areas, drill holes for reinforcing rods, and position reinforcing rods to repair concrete, using power saw and drill. • Wet concrete surface and rub with stone to smooth surface and obtain specified finish.
Wet surface to prepare for bonding, fill holes and cracks with grout or slurry, and smooth, using trowel.• Clean chipped area, using wire brush, and feel and observe surface to determine if it is rough or uneven.• Apply hardening and sealing compounds to cure surface of concrete, and waterproof or restore surface.• Load materials and equipment into vehicles for transportation to and from the job site.• Assist equipment operators however needed so that they can effectively complete the work. • Enter manholes when necessary.• Ensure the site is left clean before the crew leaves.• Perform other related duties as required.• Comply with all government and corporate safety procedures.Skills and Specifications:Capable of following instructions and on-the-job training.Excellent communication skills.Ability to operate a variety of simple and complex tools.Education and Qualifications:High School diploma or equivalent preferred.Experience working in a physical labor position and/or outdoor construction preferred.Ability to work overtime and out of town.Ability to enter and work in confined spaces.Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and lift over 50 lbs.
First Aid, and Confined Space an asset.**VALID DRIVERS LICENSE REQUIRED** Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:This is a full-time, non-exempt position.
