JOB SUMMARY:
The Lead Cook will assist the Executive Chef with food preparation, menu execution, and delivering our Hospitality Promise of the Best Food, Best Service, and Best Hospitality for the performance food catering operations for the Texas Rangers Major League Baseball organization in Arlington, TX.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with the food preparation for all in-season Texas Rangers baseball activities, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner buffet services
- Cook delicious food from a wide variety of menus with recipes and dishes from around the world
- Participate in the preparation and cooking of meals that align with KitchFix and Texas Rangers standards
- Prepare food for people daily
- Promote and exemplify a culture that is rooted in positivity
- Assist with food safety & handling procedures within the kitchen & dining
- Assist with record-keeping system for temperatures
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, storage area, and kitchen
- Be an advocate of key nutrition messages, serving as an extension to execute the nutrition principles of the organization
- Ensure products are in stock for all refrigerators, freezers, and pantries
- Ensure proper ingredient allergen labeling
- Keep up to date with current food trends, new products, and emerging cuisines
- Develop and maintain a positive rapport with the players, coaches, and staff
- Uphold culinary, kitchen, and operational best practices and standards
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 4 years experience in a professional kitchen
- ServSafe food handlers certification and allergen certification
- A working knowledge of baseball is preferred
- Strong experience in preparing authentic Latin cuisines a plus
- Strong understanding of the preparation of proteins, starches and vegetables
- Excellent knowledge of kitchen equipment and good knife skills
- Strong creativity, desire to learn, and interest in building healthy meals with lots of flavor
- Ability to develop, document, and follow recipes
- Ability to lead self and others
- Ability to follow and support the direction of the Executive Chef
- Experience working with recipes and production sheets
- A working knowledge of culinary nutrition and the ability to adjust recipes and menus to fit an athlete’s nutritional needs.
- Confidence in working with clients who have food sensitivities and allergies
- Perform the physical demands – Remain on your feet for several hours at a time, ability to lift and carry up to 45 pounds, withstand high-temperature conditions, bend, kneel, and stoop
- Ability to pass a background check
- Spanish language fluency is a plus
WORK SCHEDULE:
- Able to work non-standard work week, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays
- Your schedule will be built around the 2025 Texas Rangers home game schedule
