Position Summary
Delva Tool & Machine (DTM), a Consolidated Machine & Tool (CMT) location, is seeking a
Manufacturing Estimator
to join our growing team. The
Manufacturing Estimator
is responsible for providing estimates for ongoing and development programs, supporting management, and the use and developing of tools to improve estimating performance. *This position works a schedule of Monday thru Friday from 8:00am-5:00pm. The salary range for this position is between $90,000 - $112,000 depending on experience*
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide estimates and supporting details for machined parts and assembly estimates.
- Define in cooperation with the site engineering teams, the right machine and process selection for the machined parts and primary part assembly (benchtop assembly).
- Determine machining times through technical workups and review and validate with site engineering teams.
- Determine non-recurring cost estimates for tooling and engineering activities and review and validate with site engineering teams.
- Manage technical databases with engineering, manufacturing, and associated cost data for machined parts and primary part assembly for use as referential for new estimates.
- Understand the magnitude of requests and works with management to determine feasibility and estimating approaches.
- Provide daily status on estimates prior to submitting for approval and release to the customer.
- Work closely with the material and subcontract management organization to provide Machining Request for Quotations (RFQ), evaluate responses, and select suppliers for sub-contract, material, and tooling efforts.
- Support management for the bid/no bid process from receipt of RFQ through contract issuance.
- Other duties as assigned.
Experience, Qualifications, and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, or business management.
- 5+ years' experience working in an aerospace manufacturing industry, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience (specifically industrial, mechanical, or aerospace experience) is required.
- 3+ years' experience in the machining of 3, 4, and 5-axis components, detail planning, shop floor practices, and estimating is necessary.
- Understanding and interpretation of engineering data (technical drawings, 3D CAD models, part lists, and notes) and customer technical specifications.
- Knowledge of machining processes (milling), cutter usage and conditions for different metallic (aerospace) materials, tooling approaches, and machining performance (material removal rates).
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and other programs helpful in managing and facilitating projects.
- Must be able to handle the full-cycle RFQ process (i.e. calculating cycle times, run times, etc.).
