Position Summary:
We are looking for a talented and motivated individual to join our team and help lead our accounting department. You will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the accounting team, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage the organization's accounting operations, including timely closing and accurate financial reporting.
- Supervise, mentor, and train an accounting team of four staff with responsibilities of general ledger, intercompany, fixed assets, cost accounting, and payroll.
- Review journal entries, schedules, and reconciliations prepared by accountants.
- Ensure that all accounting processes adhere with GAAP and current financial legislation.
- Analyze financial data and identify trends to inform decision-making.
- Monitor and analyze financial performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure efficient and effective accounting operations.
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of all financial records.
- Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures.
- Stay abreast of changes in the accounting industry and recommend changes as needed.
- Assist with annual audit and tax return preparation.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Yes, staff of 2-4.
Travel Demands:
Anticipated travel is less than 10%
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; Master's degree preferred; CPA is a plus.
- Prior experience in manufacturing cost accounting.
- Minimum 10 years of experience working in accounting or a related field.
- Experience working in a managerial role.
- Proven track record in process improvement and new system implementation.
Computer/Technical Skills:
- Must be proficient in a variety of computer software applications, including advanced technical skills in Excel, Word, Outlook, and Power Point.
- Experience with Microsoft accounting software is a plus.
Required Skills:
- Experience driving process improvement within an accounting organization.
- Possess strategic thinking, change leadership skills and demonstrated ability to effect change and continuous improvement across diverse stakeholder groups.
- Comprehensive understanding of accounting transactions and how journal entries and other transactions affect various aspects of the general ledger.
- Must be self-directed and demonstrate ability to meet competing demands and priorities.
- Demonstrates excellent communication, people, and organizational skills.
- Works well with others, builds positive and professional relationships within and across teams, and collaborates effectively.
- Detail oriented, highly organized, and strong attention to accuracy
- Able to multi-task and handle large volumes of transactions in a timely and accurate manner.
