What We Do


The IT team has the twin responsibilities of making the technology that every Mapboxer uses as effective and frictionless as possible while also optimizing the performance of our corporate technology stack. We do that by promoting secure, repeatable processes, supporting data wherever it lives, and delivering self-service solutions whenever possible. We have a diverse range of functions, including incident response, laptop support, office networking, audio/visual administration, SaaS application integration, new hire orientation, and end-user training.

What You'll Do


Mapbox is a global organization with offices in North America, Europe, and Asia, and our IT team provides excellent support and services for our offices worldwide. You will join the local IT team to support a high-growth employee base in the region, as well as help maintain a follow-the-sun support model with your IT colleagues in other offices and develop solutions that contribute to the high velocity of Mapbox as a whole. Reporting to the IT Operations Manager, your primary responsibilities lie in the areas of IT and Security Operations, helping ensure the optimal health of systems and services—both on premises and in the cloud—while also assisting our employees with maintaining consistent, effective processes that optimize for usability and security. In this role, you can expect to:


  • Monitor, manage and maintain Systems across IT’s service catalog

  • Collaborate with  IT team members across the world to execute on projects and lead solutioning and brainstorming sessions, suggest and detail improvements to systems and processes in writing

  • Use your deep understanding of system capabilities, security trends, and good practice to devise simple and creative solutions in a complex environment, while minimizing manual work across the team

  • Plan for Operating System upgrades, and other impactful changes for MACOS, Windows, and Ubuntu Linux.  Manage scripts used in the management of these systems

  • Work within our ticketing system to track progress, writing diligent notes and supporting documentation both in project and Help Desk tickets.

  • Participate in remediating security vulnerabilities

  • Act as level 2 escalation point for help desk tickets and adhere to our SLAs and standard of support

  • Manage Office Networks using Cisco Meraki tools

  • Use your passion for technology to excite those around you by providing training and mentoring other members of the team.  Keep up to date on the latest trends in the technology we support

What We Believe are Important Traits for This Role



  •  Deep experience with our IT tools and platforms of choice, including macOS, iOS,  Windows, Office 365, Azure, Ubuntu Linux, Android, Okta, GitHub, Slack, Google Workspaces, Jamf,  and Atlassian.

  • Experience in a multi-input, fast-paced IT Operations organization that prioritizes customer service, security, and innovation.

  • The ability to thrive as a regional operator as part of a geographically diverse team. While Mapbox deeply values team support and interaction, most forms of team communication will not be in real time. 

  • Comfortable working in spoken and written English.

  • A love for problem solving, and a commitment to frictionless risk reduction. You dig into the root causes of issues, think outside the box, and strive for “secure by default” whenever possible.

  • Experience configuring and maintaining common small office networking products. 

  • Experience automating with scripting languages like bash. Knowledge of Node.js, or Python is a plus.

  • Familiarity with Agile frameworks to keep projects on track and delivered at velocity.

  • Experience with the ITIL framework

Our annual base compensation for this role ranges from $97,750 - $132,250 for most US locations and 5% to 10% higher for US locations with a higher cost of labor. Job level and actual compensation will be decided based on factors including, but not limited to, individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process (including skills and prior relevant experience, potential impact, and scope of role), market demands, and specific work location.
