We have an Access Control Technician position available in Eden Prairie, MN. This position will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing access control systems that ensure the security and safety of our facilities and clients. You will work closely with the security team to implement and manage access control protocols.
Primary Purpose
As an Access Control Technician, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing access control systems that ensure the security and safety of our facilities and clients. You will work closely with the security team to implement and manage access control protocols.
Major Responsibilities
- Install and configure access control systems, including card readers, keypads, biometric scanners, electronic locks, and security cameras.
- Maintain and repair existing access control systems, ensuring smooth operation and addressing malfunctions
- Program access control systems with user credentials, granting or denying access based on designated permissions
- Integrate access control systems with security systems like CCTV cameras and intrusion alarms
- Regular inspections and testing of access control systems are conducted to ensure optimal performance
- Install and Maintain Audio Video systems for our facilities as well as clients.
- Respond to access-related emergencies, such as lost cards or system outages
- Update and maintain access control system databases with user information
- Provide technical support and training to end-users on access control systems
- Stay updated on the latest access control technologies and industry best practices
Job Requirements
- Strong understanding of electronic security systems and access control technology
- Experience with installing, configuring, and troubleshooting low-voltage electrical systems
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and blueprints
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with building occupants and security personnel
- Ability to travel 25% to client sites
Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma/Vocational training
- Must have 2+ years of commercial field or 3 years of residential experience
- Must have working knowledge of commercial intrusion, CCTV, intercom and access control systems. Experience with Open Path, March Networks a Plus.
- Must have use of a Fluke or VOM meter. Able to use meter to read electrical circuits to diagnose faulty systems
- Must have working knowledge of NFPA code requirements
- Must have a valid driver’s license and clear a pre-employment drug screening
Physical Demands of Position
- Stand; walk, sit, twist; pull and use hands to squeeze and handle; reach with arms and hands; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch; talk and hear
- Use of vision to see close, distance, peripheral, depth and color
- Will work in unusual and difficult but safe positions/circumstances such as ladders, high lift equipment, plenum ceilings, and crawl spaces
- Able to lift, move and hold up to 50 lbs
- Must be able to drive vehicle during the day and at night
