Tempus' proprietary platform connects an entire ecosystem of real-world evidence to deliver real-time, actionable insights to physicians, providing critical information about the right treatments for the right patients, at the right time.We are looking for a Medical Director, Clinical Development to join the medical science team at Tempus. The candidate will have experience in clinical oncology research, especially in the areas of precision medicine, device and/or drug approvals and post-approval label expansions.

At least 5 years of clinical research experience is required. A knowledge base in molecular diagnostics, clinical trial development, oversight and conduct, and data interpretation is required.  Great communication skills with external medical directors, CRO personnel and external study teams is a must. This position will report to the Executive Medical Director, Clinical Development. 

Responsibilities Include:


  • Serving as a medical director for Tempus Oncology Clinical Development 
  • Self-driven and able to steer Clinical Development plan for new genomic assays and algorithmic diagnostics through the whole lifecycle including clinical validation and clinical utility studies as well as post-market data review across different oncology indications 
  • Works well in a matrix environment and able to interface with multidisciplinary teams including biostatistics, R&D scientists, bioinformatics, operations, legal, business development, scientific communications, marketing, regulatory, and more 
  • Contribute to and execute our strategy with positive attitude 

Required Qualifications:


  • MD degree, advanced training in Oncology preferred 
  • 5 years of clinical research experience required.  Could be in the Clinical Research Organization, pharmaceutical, or primary investigator academic research setting
  • Previous experience leading teams 
  • Experience with site engagement and operations in clinical research settings
  • Strong communication skills regarding the Tempus mission and strengths, including oral and written communication skills 
  • Able to work well with external investigators including key opinion leaders 
  • Innovative thinking regarding study execution
